Battle Arms Development Lightweight Buttstock

Battle Arms Development (BAD) will release their 3 ounce Lightweight Buttstock soon. This is just about as minimalist and lightweight as you will find when it comes to stocks. It is a simple aluminum buttplate that secures to a mil-spec diameter carbine receiver extension. This fixed stock is designed to be as compact as possible. It clamps to the receiver extension with just a single screw and features a QD sling swivel socket under the toe of the stock.

This stock, along with BAD’s lightweight receiver sets, is designed to form the foundation of a lightweight build. I can’t wait to see the weights that savvy lightweight AR-15 users will be able to achieve with these stocks other components from BAD.

Battle Arms Development LIGHTRIGID Barrel

Battle Arms Development just officially released their Ultramatch LIGHTRIGID Barrels and they look pretty darn good on paper. These 416R stainless steel barrels feature a proprietary barrel contour and fluting that make them both light in weight (24.6 ounces for the 16″ version) and rigid.

BAD LIGHTRIGID Barrel

At a glance, they look fairly standard in profile but the .625″ gas block journal is the first clue that this barrel is lighter than it looks! It features a midlength gas system and is dimpled for a gas block set screw. Dimpling is an important feature that both indexes and helps prevent the gas block from spinning due to impact.

The LIGHTRIGID barrels feature a Wylde chamber which works well with both .223 and 5.56 ammo. Both the chamber and feedramps are polished. It has precision button rifled, 6 groove, 1 in 8″ twist rifling. Each barrel is heat treat stress relieved and cryogenically treated.

Battle Arms Development BAD-EMR

Earlier today, I mentioned the new Forward Controls Design EMR and EMR-C. Those were developed in partnership with Battle Arms Development who has also released their own Enhanced Magazine Release – the BAD-EMR.

The BAD-EMR features a shallow “V” shape (compared to the curved shape of the Forward Controls Design parts) that encourages centered finger placement and deep striations that help keep the finger from slipping up or down while not preventing the finger from sliding back to the trigger. The back of the BAD-EMR is skeletonized so that it weighs the same as a standard magazine release button in spite of its increased height. It has no through hole for a clean, finished look.

Battle Arms Development is offering the BAD-EMR in a number of colors including black, OD green, red, silver, yellow-lime, and bronze which is a good match for FDE receivers. Check out the new BAD-EMR at Battle Arms Development.

Battle Arms Development Launches New Website

Battle Arms Development just launched their new site. The clean, easy to navigate design is great but what you really need to check out is all the new goodies they loaded on the new site. The new BAD556-LW receivers are there with more specs that were released previously (though the weight is still not available). There is also a very good looking new AR-15 barrel with a proprietary contour and fluting pattern.

Check out the new BattleArmsDevelopment.com.
