Midwest Industries AR Pistols

Midwest Industries is set to release a line of AR-15 pistols. The pistols will feature their forged lower receivers and SS Series Hand Guards (both KeyMod and M-LOK will be available). They will also showcase MI’s new AR Pistol receiver extension (buffer tube) that is designed to be used with the SB15. The receiver extension has an integrated stop to add “length of pull” and is long enough to completely fill the void in the SB15.

The MI AR Pistols will be available soon and the receiver extension will be available separately.

Phase 5 Hex-2 Pistol Buffer Tube

The new Hex-2 Pistol Buffer Tube from Phase 5 looks like a great option for those using the Sig SB-15 Not-A-Stock. It features a unique hexagonal shape near the receiver end of the tube that matches the contours of the SB-15 and serves as a stand-off to provide additional length of pull. It also utilizes a standard castle nut and end plate which means you have a host of different end plate sling mounting options. The Hex-2 comes with a nifty little cap that turns the empty space at the rear of the SB-15 into a storage compartment for ear plugs, a small bottle of oil, or maybe some Skittles.

KAK SUPER SIG SB-15 Pistol Buffer Tube

I have been watching KAK with a lot of interest since they came out with their original Sig SB-15 Pistol Brace specific buffer tube, the KAK AR-15 SIG SB-15 Pistol Buffer Tube. One thing kept me from trying that buffer tube and that was its requirement to use a modified end plate. Apparently I am not the only one who felt this way and, obviously, I am going to have build another AR pistol because they have now released the KAK SUPER SIG SB-15 Pistol Buffer Tube which has a more streamlined design than the original, is slightly longer (a good thing for AR pistols), and uses a completely standard castle nut and end plate.

It retains the shoulder feature of the original. This shoulder is machined into the tube and is the key to the KAK SUPER SIG SB-15 Pistol Buffer Tube’s functionality. It serves as a hard stop to prevent the SB-15 from sliding forward. It also serves as a stop for the spacers that KAK is now offering to be used to adjust the length of pull of your SB-15.

If you are building an AR pistol and intend to use an SB-15 Not-A-Stock, check out the KAK SUPER SIG SB-15 Pistol Buffer Tube.

BCM Working on AR Pistol?

AR pistols are enjoying an unprecedented level of acceptance thanks in large part to a variety of quality components being available and a better, more realistic understanding of the role that they can potentially fill. The BATFE’s recent letter regarding shouldering the SB15 Stabilizer Brace doesn’t hurt either.

Perhaps the most telling indicator of how far the AR pistol has come can be found in a recent post on Lightfighter Tactical Forum

Lightfighter Ar pistol capture

The post (above) is written by Pat Rogers of EAG Tactical and it succinctly outlines his journey from AR pistol skeptic to believer and mentions that he will be testing an AR pistol from “Paul”. The Paul mentioned in the is Paul Buffoni, head honcho at BCM and all-around AR-15 guru.

Pat Rogers doesn’t buy into range toys and Paul Buffoni certainly doesn’t build them. Just because a BCM AR pistol is being tested doesn’t mean it will make it to market (remember the BCM dissapators?) but these are clear indicators that the AR pistol is gaining traction in serious circles. Who wouldn’t want a BCM built AR pistol!?!?
