New from Magpul: Hunter 700

brand_magpulLogoHold onto your backsides. Magpul is about to start rolling out a series of video teases for upcoming products.

The first video gives us a glimpse into their adjustable, aluminum pillar bedded, lightweight stock system for short action Remington 700s – the Hunter 700.

UPDATE

Here is more info directly from Magpul:

Hunter 700, $259.95 MSRP has an anodized aluminum bedding block, uses SGA cheek riser and LOP spacers, has M-LOK slots, has dimples to add swivel studs and places to add our QD sockets, weighs 2.9 lbs, and works with factory Rem bottom metal as packaged, or….

Remove a spacer (30 seconds) and insert our hybrid steel and polymer Bolt Action Magazine Well (MSRP $69.95, includes one magazine) to use AICS compatible magazines, speaking of which…

The PMAG5 7.62 AC is an AICS compatible polymer magazine with anti-tilt follower, MSRP $34.95. The magazine holds five rounds as packaged to comply with hunting regulations, but if you clip the follower stop on a pre-scored line, it becomes a 6-round magazine, useful in competitive shooting disciplines or just for an extra round.

The ability to easily change bottom metal to accept magazines and an affordable AICS compatible PMAG big news. Magpul just rocked the AICS magazine market.

Nicknuk

What in the world is Nicknuk? It’s a brand of knucks and also a sort of concept…

Nicknuk makes a wide variety of knucks which are defensive impact weapons that are descendants of brass knuckles. They are basically designed to both focus the force of a punch and reinforce the fist during a punch. Nicknuks creates knucks in a variety of designs and from a variety of materials like G-10, Micarta, Aluminum, Kevlar composites, copper, and more. The possibilities are nearly endless.

The concept component of Nicknuks is evident in the design. While many knucks feature large holes that the fingers are passed through, Nicknuks have only a pillar that projects up between two fingers. This is a key difference for two reasons. One, it appears slightly more discreet to the uninformed and two, it provides wider legality since some jurisdictions specifically outlaw knucks that enclose the fingers.

If you want to get your hands on a Nicknuk… get in line. They are created in small batches and are in high demand. The batches are generally released on Nicknuk’s website where they sell out in minutes. The best way to get one into your own grubby mitts is to like their Facebook page and wait for a sale announcement or subscribe to their site so you know when they are released.

Battle Arms Development LIGHTRIGID Barrel

Battle Arms Development just officially released their Ultramatch LIGHTRIGID Barrels and they look pretty darn good on paper. These 416R stainless steel barrels feature a proprietary barrel contour and fluting that make them both light in weight (24.6 ounces for the 16″ version) and rigid.

BAD LIGHTRIGID Barrel

At a glance, they look fairly standard in profile but the .625″ gas block journal is the first clue that this barrel is lighter than it looks! It features a midlength gas system and is dimpled for a gas block set screw. Dimpling is an important feature that both indexes and helps prevent the gas block from spinning due to impact.

The LIGHTRIGID barrels feature a Wylde chamber which works well with both .223 and 5.56 ammo. Both the chamber and feedramps are polished. It has precision button rifled, 6 groove, 1 in 8″ twist rifling. Each barrel is heat treat stress relieved and cryogenically treated.

ALG EMR V2 M-LOK

Geissele Automatics and sister company ALG Defense are conducting a full frontal assault on out wallets… and I don’t mind one bit. They have been introducing new products at a breakneck pace over the last few days. The EMR V2 M-LOK is the latest product to roll out of ALG Defense’s machines.

ALG EMR V2

The EMR V2 M-LOK is very similar to the original EMR with the addition of an integral short rail section at the 12 o’clock position on the muzzle end of the rail. This makes a lot of sense since many EMR users were placing a rail in this position anyway for front sights, lights, and other items appropriate for the top rail. The rest of the rail is covered with M-LOK spec slots so you can attach rails and accessories anywhere along the rail at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 o’clock. Like the original EMR, it features rotation limited QD sling swivel sockets at 2 and 10 o’clock, back near the receiver.

The new version also features an interesting aesthetic feature. There is a tapered ramp that better blends the height of the upper receiver with the slim diameter of the rail.

Available lengths:

  • 10” EMR V2 M-LOK: $145
  • 12” EMR V2 M-LOK: $150
  • 13” EMR V2 M-LOK: $155
  • 15” EMR V2 M-LOK: $165

Expect these to begin shipping sometime shortly after SHOT Show. Check out ALG Defense.
