Wise Men Company’s new Signet Ring turns your Spyderco Delica into something entirely new – not quite a karambit but still a Delica. The Signet replaces the Delica’s back spacer with a machined aluminum ring that functions much like the ring on a karabit. It makes the knife easier to retrieve from the pocket and easier to hold in an edge down orientation.
Delicas with the Emerson Wave Opener will be very easy to deploy using the Signet. The ring would sit above the wearer’s pocket where the index finger can easily slip into it and the knife will “automatically” deploy on the draw stroke. This can go a long way toward helping solve the issue of ending up with a grip that is too low on the knife when using the Wave. Regular Delicas may be modified to “wave” open in a similar way by simply attaching a zip tie to the Spyder Hole.
You can pre-order the Signet Ring at Wise Men Company. Shipping begins in January.
Tyrant Designs rolled out their new MOD ForeGrip just in time for Black Friday. We mentioned it briefly then but it is worth going back for a detailed look.
The MOD ForeGrip, like most everything that rolls out of the Tyrant Designs shop, is CNC machined from aluminum and also features a polymer grip insert. It’s design allows it to be mounted on either M-LOK or KeyMod slots. Tyrant Designs takes great care with the finishing of these grips with all of them being chamfered to reduce sharp edges.
The shape of the MOD ForeGrip allows for both thumbs forward and thumb over grips. The polymer insert gives the shooter’s palm something to grip will the hooked shape gives something to pull back against when drawing the rifle aggressively into the shoulder pocket. The MOD ForeGrip also features a short, heavily textured ledge that works as a barricade stop.
The MOD ForeGrip manages to pack a lot of features into a relatively slim package that sits very close to the rail it is mounted on. It weighs in at 1.7 ounces thanks to its radically skeletonized design.
The Dueck Defense DFR (Dueck Fixed Rear) Sights are now available in a 2 Dot Tritium configuration. Both the front and rear sights have a single tritium element to create a “dot over dot” type sight alignment reference. This new DFR sight shares all the same features of the other sets including an integrated slide manipulation ledge, black nitrocarburized finish, and a great ratio of front sight width to rear sight notch width.
Griffin Armament started as a silencer company, became known as a leading muzzle device manufacturer, grew their brand further into a full fledged AR-15 accessory source, and now their growth is reaching its logical next evolutionary step – complete carbines.
From Griffin Armament:
Griffin Armaments’ MK1 rifle line which has been in development the past couple of years is complete. The MK1 series is a direct impingement line of signature rifles.
“Like most serious end users, we’ve been using and building AR’s as a hobby for the past 20 years. We wanted to ensure our rifles were a turn-key fully featured firearm, meaning the end user doesn’t have to buy 4 or more different parts and own the rifle in a semi-complete state for months before it feels mission ready. We’re proud of designing and integrating into these guns, a complete package of upgrade features.” -Austin, Lead engineer and primary owner of Griffin stated. He continued, “From a business perspective, we are also aware that the current AR market is extremely competitive, which is why we wanted to offer an unbeatable combination of quality, performance, and features at a great price. Offering value is something that Griffin customers have come to expect from us, and we are happy to deliver it in this signature line of AR’s.”
Many components of the Griffin rifle represent individual, often lengthy, design and engineering projects. Thousands of design and developmental hours were spent to ensure a proper ratio of performance and features versus cost.
In closing, Austin stated,
“ We formerly developed a fully featured rifle for another respected industry company, so our performance expectations were abnormally high at the beginning of this project. The MK1 project developed a rifle system that resulted in a few meaningful patents, and a firearm that several of our employees wanted to own, which is typically a good indicator of success. When you put a product in a person’s hand and they feel an immediate desire to own it, that’s the hallmark of a successful project.”
Griffin’s MK1 line includes 4 models and for a limited time is offering an introductory 10% off promotion. Customers can option their preferred furniture color and silencer mount model.
Whiskey Two-Four continues to greatly expand their capabilities. They now offer a number of design and manufacturing services including custom laser cutting, lamination services, sewing, and more. They also offer laser engraving and they are putting that to use by offering very affordable laser engraved glass ware!
This may seem like a strange thing to point out on a tactical gear blog but it’s almost Christmas (major gift potential here) and it highlights yet another capability of a company that is doing very cool things to support other companies. They are OEM partners with a ton of brands you know and do a lot to help small brands operate like larger ones. Whiskey Two-Four really has a lot going on and they are worth keeping an eye on.
