TOPS Knives Frog Market Special XL – Now Shipping

When you think TOPS Knives, you probably don’t think of kitchen knives but you probably should. Their Frog Market Special (FMS) has been in their line up for years and it is right at home in the kitchen. Now, the FMS has a big brother – the Frog Market Special XL.

From TOPS Knives:

The highly anticipated release of the Frog Market Special XL is here. It has all of the aesthetics and function of the original in a larger package. Many users out there have this knife in their kitchen, camp kit, and some have even carried the FMS as an EDC knife. The longer blade and handle, and the slightly thicker steel give the XL an advantage in certain food prep tasks. “The Frog Market special and XL are both great knives. Almost every TOPS employee has the original in their kitchen and the XL will quickly follow suit,” said Craig Powell, General Manager of TOPS Knives. The Frog Market Special XL can be purchased by itself or as a combo with the smaller Frog Market Special.

Aridus Industries CROM – Pre-Order

Aridus Industries has opened pre-ordering for their upcoming CROM – Co-witness Ready Optic Mount. This mount is designed to mount an Aimpoint Micro on Remington shotguns or the popular Beretta 1301 Tactical. There are certainly other Aimpoint mounts available for shotguns but the CROM has a unique feature that sets it apart. The mount has a windage adjustable ghost ring sight built in that can be co-witnessed with the red dot sight.

Check out the CROM at Aridus Industries.

BFE Labs SOCP Sheath Concept

The Benchmade SOCP knife is designed around a strong, secure grip concept which makes it especially ironic that most sheaths available for it cover the grip all the way up to the index finger ring. BFE Labs is playing with a sheath concept that covers only blade, allowing the user to establish a full grip before the knife even clears kydex.

The prototype sheath is shown attached to PALS webbing but the concept could likely be adapted to belt carry. It could work especially well with a static line as well.

If you have an SOCP and would like to see this concept come into production, sound off in the comment section.

Sneak Peek: Lone Wolf Distributors Testing Billet Glock Extractors

Lone Wolf Distributors is testing a potential new product – stainless steel billet Glock extractors. There are prototype 9mm extractors in the hands of product testers already. Current factory Glock extractors are metal injection molded (MIM) which some shooters find objectionable. This new extractor from Lone Wolf is machined from a block of steel. Stay tuned for updates.

Memorial Day 2017

We come from a military family, though I never served myself. My daughters know many people who served or who are currently serving in the Armed Forces but they don’t know anyone who has died in the service of this country. When you don’t have a personal connection, it’s easy to forget that the people who we honor on Memorial Day are more than just an ideal or people that we only think about on one day a year on a specific day set aside specifically for them.

My wife and I took my girls to our local war memorial to drive home the point that there are people that we honor on Memorial Day that could have been our friends, neighbors, or attended our church. We are honoring all those who gave their lives in service of this country and some of them were part of our community. My hope is that this forms more of a personal connection and sense of gratitude for them and teaches that, in our family at least, we do more than just grill hamburgers on this solemn day.

There is a good chance that your town or your county seat has a war memorial. I strongly encourage you to visit it so that you can link some names to the idea of Memorial Day.
