New from TOPS Knives: Mini Scandi Folder 4.0 and El Chappo

TOPS Knives just rolled out two new knives – the Mini Scandi Folder 4.0 and the El Chappo Cleaver.

Mini Scandi Folder 4.0

The Mini Scandi Folder 4.0 is a folding version of the popular Mini Scandi Knife: Mini Scandi Folder 4.0 at TOPSKnives.com

When you have a knife that is as popular and useful as the Mini Scandi Knife, other versions of it are bound to make sense too. That’s the reason the Scandi Trekker exists, and now it’s also the reason for the Mini Scandi Folder or MSF 4.0.

The MSF is a flipper style folder (non-assisted) that boasts a full Scandi grind that is great for slicing and perfect for EDC. The blade steel is N690Co, which is a very stain resistant steel that holds an edge well and is fairly easy to resharpen when needed. The frames are also stainless steel with tan canvas Micarta handle scales for a smooth, comfortable grip. Ball bearing washers on the pivot point ensure a smooth action opening and closing, and it has a reversible pocket clip for all you lefty’s out there. For a great EDC with a touch of class, check out the new Mini Scandi Folder.

Note: The MSF is a collaboration piece. It was designed by Leo Espinoza, but TOPS has teamed up with Maserin Knives to have the MSF made in Italy.

El Chappo

El Chappo chops in the kitchen. El Chappo chops in the woods. El Chappo doesn’t care where it chops… It just chops: El Chappo at TOPSKnives.com

Leo Espinoza, TOPS’ President, has played with a few cleaver designs in the past and decided that with the success of the FMS knives and since TOPS is debuting a chef’s knife this year, it was time to make El Chappo happen.

While this cleaver can be used for heavier veggie chopping tasks, it’s primarily made to cut meat. With a blade length of 6” and a thickness of 3/16”, this cleaver has the weight and capability to help you take care of whatever meat processing you may encounter. It’s made of 1095 high carbon steel and has TOPS’ new Acid Rain finish. It comes with a Kydex Blade cover that is held in place with an elastic shock cord.

El Chappo is a cleaver that is as useful in the kitchen as it is in the field. So whether you are in the kitchen making dinner or in the hunting camp processing your latest harvest, El Chappo might be exactly what you need.

GeoBallistics DIY Apple Watch Rifle Mount

GeoBallistics recently shared a way for exporting ballistic data from their app to an Apple Watch and then mounting said Apple Watch to your rifle to create an electronic dope card for your rifle. It all sounds very high tech but the beauty of it is that it is actually relatively simple and approachable for DIY types.

They created a video that shows how to push your rifle’s data to the Apple Watch. It is basically just exporting an image file that can be viewed in the Photos app.

You should be able to recreate the mount from seeing the pictures. It is just a Nite Ize Gear Tie and armor case, along with some adhesive Velcro. The “mount” allows you to position the watch where ever you need it and it folds out of the way when not in use.

There are definitely times when you might prefer more reliable, non-electronic methods of displaying your dope but the convenience of this setup would be great at the range. It would allow you to easy carry, organize, and access as many data cards as your Apple Watch can hold.

ITS Tactical TourniQuick

ITS Tactical’s new TourniQuck is a pouch designed to carry, fully cover, and even deploy CAT and SOF-T tourniquets. It makes use of a similar one-handed pull-to-deploy design found on ITS Tactical’s ETA Trauma Kit Pouch. When the user pulls the red marked (included red Velcro ONE-WRAP) loop, the outer surface of the pouch breaks away and unfurls the tourniquet fully so that it is immediately ready to place around a limb.

The TourniQuck can be mounted a number of ways including vertically or horizontally on a belt, vertically on a backpack strap, or vertically on PALS webbing. It is made in the USA.
