CAV-15 MKII Update

I have some good news and some bad news. I’ll start with the bad. The CAV-15 MKII, the most successful polymer AR-15 lower ever made, is going away. The good news is that there will be a CAV-15 MKIII!

From GWACS Armory, makers of the CAV-15 lower:

We are thankful for InRange TV’s WWSD project expanding the interest in the GWACS CAV 15 product. With this expanded interest we have virtually sold out of our MK II product line.

This year the CAV-15MKII turns 15 years old and unfortunately during our last production run our injection mold reached its end of life.

We are currently finalizing the design of the CAV-15 MK III that will maintain the same strength and durability as the MK II while including the most requested new features. We have incorporated some features recommended by Russell Phagan aka SinistralRifleman.com who has been involved with the CAV-15 since 2001. These improvements assure the future CAV-15 models are in line with the needs of the modern firearms market.

We will be announcing the availability of the CAV-15 MK III and MK IV later this year!

If you want to receive more information as we near the preorder event please create an account on our web page so that you can receive updates. If you already have an account you will be notified by email.

We want to thank everyone for the enormous support of the GWACS Armory CAV-15 MK II.

Custom M81 Tradesman SALT Belt from Arbor Arms and Whiskey Two-Four

Whiskey Two-Four’s proprietary ACRONYM laminate material is available in M81 and Arbor Arms recently put that fact to good use. They created some custom Tradesman SALT Belts. In one cool product you have modern materials and construction methods like laser cut laminate material right along side a classic camo pattern. It’s a good time to be a gear head!

If you want something like this, it might require some leg work. This was a completely custom project but the materials are available. Maybe you could sweet talk your way into one.

E93 Finds Another Use for the IWC QD Micro Flush Sling Mount

I’ve mentioned the QD Micro Flush Sling Mounts from Impact Weapons Components here on JTT before. They are about as handy as a widget can be and it seems like I am always finding new ways to use them.

Echo Nine Three just found a new way to use them that might just take the cake. They were able to install one on a Russian triangle stock with some very slight modifications. The mod places a QD sling socket on the stock near the receiver where it works for both single and 2 point slings. The installation is very clean with most of the QD Micro Flush Sling Mount tucked inside the triangle of the stock.

MISSION SPEC OBTAINS RIGHTS TO PRODUCE SHERPA MAG POUCH FOR YETI WURKS

Mission Spec, LLC has recently obtained the rights to the Sherpa Scorpion Evo III Mag Pouch from Fight and Flight Tactical and will be producing it exclusively for Yeti Wurks.

The Sherpa is a four mag carry solution made specifically for the thicker magazines used by the CZ Scorpion Evo III.  The pouch comes standard with both bungee and flap-over-mag Velcro retention options. It can be attached to a plate carrier via the included MALICE clips or worn as a standalone piece of gear in a bandoleer style (strap included and removable).

The Sherpa is 100% manufactured in the United States with US sourced components and is Berry Compliant.  Black and Coyote are available at the time of this writing. As production ramps up, other colors/patterns will include MultiCam, Ranger Green, and Kryptek Typhon.

Some reports/reviews indicated that the original Sherpa mag pouch was too tight when inserting the magazine. Mission Spec has slightly edited the design to include more tolerance in the pouch area.

Teaser: Hill People Gear Capture Flap

Hill People Gear dropped a tasty teaser image today. The image is our first look at the Capture Flap, a laser cut beavertail/tailgate for HPG packs (and others). The compact, lightweight tailgate should be able to attach to several packs and features a laser cut MOLLE compatible grid for affixing additional pouches.

The teaser image shows the Capture Flap mounted on the Conner Pack/Pocket. Stay tuned for additional details.
