Swampfox Optics Blade 1X Prism

Do you find that the dot in your red “dot” sight is more like a smear or even a series of several small dots mashed together? If so, a 1X prism optic with an adjustable diopter, like the new Blade from Swampfox Optics, may be just what the doctor… er, optometrist, ordered.

Blade is the mission-driven 1x prism scope dedicated for home defense and law enforcement. Blade’s revolutionary Bullet Rise Compensating reticle compensates for optic height over bore at just 5, 10, and 15 yards when mounted on an AR-15. Available with red or green illumination, Blade’s etched reticle appears black when illumination is off. Shake ‘N Wake motion-sensing auto on/off saves battery life and is perfect for home defense. Blade is an excellent choice for shooters with astigmatism who have issues with dot sights. When you need speed and precision at in-your-face distances, trust the Blade.

Forward Controls Design OPF-G, RMR

In case you haven’t heard, many of the mounting plate options for the Glock MOS have proven to be unreliable unless certain mitigating factors are put in place. Forward Controls Design has set out to correct these shortcomings with the introduction of their OPF-G (Optics Platform, Glock).

From Forward Controls Design:

OPF-G, RMR (Optics Platform, Glock, for RMR) is a Glock MOS Adapter Set 01 compatible plate for mounting Trijicon RMR or SRO on Glock Gen 4 and Gen 5 slides, G17, G19, G34, G35, G41 (width 25mm/1 inch.)  It is incompatible with G40 that uses Set 02.

We like the Glock MOS concept, even if we find the factory MOS adapter plates could use some help.  Standards, commonality, availability of parts are all good things.  Heretofore, users have had to send in their slides to be milled to accept mini red dot sights, or opt for 3rd party optics ready slides.  The time it takes to send in the slides to be milled, and varying quality of the milling work and optics ready slides notwithstanding, there was a lack a standard regarding the sight height, it’d be a coincidence if two slides milled by two different shops share the same sight height.   Glock’s MOS may not sit as low as some, but in our opinion, what MOS offers more than makes up for it, namely a uniform sight height, ease of installation, parts commonality and availability.

OPF-G, RMR is a collaboration with a USMC combat veteran and former USMC Shooting Team head coach, Tom Shields. We used Glock’s MOS adapter plates as a basis, and designed our version of what we think it should and can be.

OPF-G, RMR’s shape follows its functions, same as all of our products.  We outlined the following objectives:

1. Sight is to be fully supported in the front and rear by recoil lugs/fences, with minimum movement.
2. Eliminate the need to use an additional sealer plate.
3. Correct length sight to plate, and plate to slide screws.  Screws are to be Torx.
4. Adapter plate is to be machined in steel.

OPF-G, RMR accomplishes all of the goals outlined above. OPF-G, RMR’s thickness is unchanged from that of the Glock MOS plate, it doesn’t change the sight’s mounted height, nor does it require different iron sights.

The OPF-G is compatible with the SRO but may not fit other sights, like those from Holosun, that use the same mounting hole pattern. Learn more at ForwardControlsDesign.com.

Hill People Gear Lever Light Mount V2

I’ve owned and used a Hill People Gear (HPG) Lever Light Mount for more than a year now and I’ve been thoroughly satisfied with it. The original version of the Lever Light Mount was an easy-to-install and functional way to add a light rail to lever-action rifles.

HPG is now offering an updated version of the Lever Light Mount – the Lever Light Mount V2. The updates bring additional flexibility and versatility to the mount. On flexibility, the mount now fits a wider variety of rifles chambered in everything from .38/.357 to .45-70 via its clamp style mounting system with shims.

On versatility, the V2 offers a single M-LOK slot and includes a short rail section. Now users can attach lights directly to the M-LOK slot if the light allows or use the included rail section to mount any Picatinny compatible light. The M-LOK ecosystem is vast and varied. It should provide plenty of options for end-users.
