SKUNKWERKS 13 – Kalashnikov Optics Platform

You probably haven’t heard of SKUNKWERKS 13 yet, but I suggest you take notice. They have just gone live with their new website and Kalashnikov Optics Platform and I suspect you are going to hear a lot about them.

IF

The Kalashnikov Optics Platform (or KOP) is incredibly simple and I mean that as a great compliment. It is optic mounting solutions for AKs that utilize a series of different mounts that are attached to the AK in place of the rear sight via an over-sized pin. According to SKUNKWERKS 13 this system allows mounts to be swapped quickly and allows them to retain zero all while still allowing the rifle to be field stripped as normal and without interfering with folding stocks.

IF

There are already a wide variety of mounts available. There is a magnified optic mount that utilizes the excellent split rings from LaRue Tactical, standard 1913 spec rails in various lengths, a Trijicon RMR mount, and an Aimpoint Micro mount. Many of the mounts have an integrated rear sight that replaces (and improves) the rear sight that they replace.

The KOP seems to have a ton of potential. You can find more information at Skunkwerks13.com.

TWANGnBANG Compares GLOCK Extractors

I am a big fan of the YouTube channel TWANGEnBANG, especially their GLOCK content. The most recent GLOCK video shows the differences in appearance, geometry, and extraction of the GLOCK Dipped, GLOCK non-dipped, and Apex Tactical Extractor complete with slow motion video. If you have one of the seemingly many GLOCKs that is experiencing extraction issues like brass to the face or inconsistent extraction, this video will be very helpful to you as you try to fix the issues.

BCM Leak? BCM/HSP JACK Carbine – Now Official

Editor’s Note: This is now official.

BCM recently posted a an image that teased about an upcoming release for 12/10/12. Well, Trigger Jerks may not have to wait to find out what this is all about.

We have reason to believe that the carbine that is released with be a Haley Strategic Partners collaboration called the Haley Jack Carbine. This carbine will feature premium components like the exciting new BCM Comp, Geissele SMR MK1 rail, the BCM Gunfighter Charging Handle, an ALG Defense ACT Trigger, INFORCE WML, B5 Systems Bravo Stock, and more. I am taking this information from a video that appears to have been leaked early a foreign video site. Edit – The story and video are now official.

See Soldier Systems for tons of details.

Stay tuned for more developments.

PS – If you pay attention you’ll see our buddy Earl from IWC in the video.

Midwest Industries AK-SS Hand Guard Panels

The Midwest Industries (MI) AK-SS Hand Guard is designed to allow the user to attach rail sections only where they need them. Now they are giving users a new option for what to attach where they don’t need a rail – the AK-SS Hand Guard Panels.

MI’s AK-SS Hand Guard Panels are made from textured polymer and are designed to bolt directly to the hand guard. They will be available in 2 sizes, short and long, that should allow users to work around just about any rail configuration. They will come in a 3 pack with 2 short panels and 1 long panel. These will be available in Black, FDE, and OD Green.

They should be available from MidwestIndustriesInc.com.
