Telluric Group Completes Collimator Shipment to US Army

I think having the ability to put a pretty solid zero on a rifle or confirm an already established zero without using any ammo sounds pretty good. Apparently, so did the US Army. Telluric Group recently completed delivery of their Small Arms Collimators to the Army…

May 1, 2014 – Telluric Group, LLC. completed delivery of Small Arms Collimator (SAC) Kits to the US Army for inclusion in the Advanced Sniper Accessory Kit (ASAK).  The SAC Kits, referred to by the Army as Sniper Weapon Collimators (SWC), were designed for use with the M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System (SASS) and the M2010 Enhanced Sniper Rifle (ESR).  They also work with legacy M24 sniper rifles.

The collimators were chosen by the Army as a no-comparison solution for two reasons.  First, they speed up the initial live-fire zero process for weapons that have not yet been zeroed (i.e. during sniper training).  Second, and most critically, they allow deployed snipers to accurately check zero in any environment without live-fire.  “Going into the fight with a good zero is critically important,” said Brian Garrett of Telluric Group.  “The SAC allows snipers to confirm zero quickly anytime, anywhere- before they leave the FOB [forward operating base], after movement across rough terrain, or even at their final firing position.”  By ensuring that weapons are always zeroed, SACs have improved Soldiers’ confidence in their weapons and continue to enhance operational effectiveness.

Small Arms Collimators are manufactured by Pyser-SGI Limited, a British defense company known for over a century for their reliability and innovation.  SACs are available for assault rifles, sniper weapons, machine guns, and grenade launchers.  They work with iron sights, day optics, and image intensified night vision optics.  Collimators are also available for thermal weapon sights and for IR and visible laser aiming devices.  Telluric Group is the exclusive US distributor for Pyser-SGI and the Small Arms Collimator.

Ares Armor 5.45 AR15 Barrel & Bolt Combo Package

Are you sitting on a pile of 5.45×39 spam cans that you hoarded before the recent import ban? Do you wish you could put all that ammo through something other than an AK-74? Ares Armor wants to help you put that ammo to good use. They just released a 5.45 AR15 Barrel & Bolt Combo Package that will let you build an AR-15 chambered in 5.45.

The included barrel is 16″ long with a 1 in 8″ twist, carbine gas system, and an M4 profile. It is made from 4142 steel and nitride processed which is a huge plus when dealing with corrosive ammo. The bolt is made from Carpenter 158 steel and Ares Armor says that it meets or exceeds the TDP.

This kit is extremely affordable at the sale price of 179.93. Even with the supplies of surplus 5.45 drying up, steel-cased commerical ammo will continue to be available and the cartridge is better suited to the AR platform than 7.62×39. So, if you are the type who wants an AR-15 chambered in one of the inexpensive Russian calibers, this could be a great option.

SIONICS Weapon Systems and Axelson Tactical Commemorative Rifle

SIONICS Weapon Systems was approached by Jeff Axelson of Axelson Tactical to create a rifle to commemorate his brother Matthew Axelson who was during Operation Red Wings on June 28th, 2005. Matthew is an American hero who was awarded the Navy Cross for his action on this mission.

The rifle will be reminiscent of the rifle that Axelson was carrying on that mission but with a generous dose of the state of the art. It will be limited to just 100 pieces and will feature special serial numbers and engraving.

The tentative specs are:

  1. 18″ stainless 1×8 twist rifle length gas system barrel with bead blast finish
  2. Battle Comp 1.0 muzzle device with special laser engraving
  3. Geissele low profile gas block
  4. Geissele 15″ MKII Rail
  5. Geissele SSA trigger
  6. Vltor A5 Buffer System
  7. B5 Systems SOPMOD Stock
  8. Vltor/BCM Gunfighter MOD 4 handle
  9. Magpul MBUS PRO sights
  10. Battle Arms Development Ambidextrous Safety Selector
  11. 3 color camouflage Cerakote from Personal Defense Warehouse in Chandler, AZ

All of the rifles will ship in a Pelican case with a certificate of authenticity, data sheet, and special coins that are numbered to the rifle. Keep in mind that these specs may change as the plans are finalized and the various artwork for the engraving is still being completed.

KCT Kydex Element IWB Holster

Kinetic Concepts Tactical (KCT) is known for offering very inexpensive, functional kydex holsters. Their newest holster, the Element, costs just $30 and is an inside-the-waistband (IWB) design. KCT created the Element to be slim enough to work at any position on the waistband, including appendix carry. It features fold-over construction with a folded kydex belt hook. An optional, bolt-on pocket carry hook is also available for all models though it would obviously be best suited to handguns suitable for pocket carry.

Switchview EAGLE EYE Speed Lever

The Switchview EAGLE EYE Speed Lever is a polymer magnification adjustment lever or “cat tail” that will fit just about any adjustable magnification optic. It costs significantly less than typical aluminum levers that must be machined to match an optic specifically. The EAGLE EYE Speed Lever is available individually or in packs of 3.

These look like a good, lower profile alternative to using casters while still keeping the cost reasonable.
