We recently mentioned Tough Hook, a hanger meant to be durable enough to hang even the heaviest tactical gear like plate carriers complete with ballistic plates. Tough Hook successfully met its funding goal on Kickstarter and now the makers are moving to start production. They are pre-selling a limited number of Tough Hooks on Amazon in order to raise additional funds. Here is a bit of news that will make your day (at least it made mine). Sneaky Bags is back! They are being relaunched with backing by SERT USA (who you may know for their killer range bags and the Compact Carbine Case.
Sneaky Bags started with a simple idea, makes bags that can carry guns that don’t look like bags that are carrying guns. They had an entire line of backpacks and messenger bags that didn’t just carry gear but actually served as support gear to your rifle. They were successful enough that the term “sneaky bag” has become a bit of a generic descriptor for bags of this type.
Now that they are relaunching, their first product will be the CRB or Covert Rifle Bag. The CRB looks a bit like a tennis racket case. The 31″ version will fit an SBR or broken down AR-15 or similarly sized rifle and the 36″ version will fit 2 16″ AR-15s without breaking them down. The front pocket also features a combination PALS webbing/Velcro field that allows you to attach various holster or other items for carrying a handgun. The CRB can be carried as a shoulder bag or a backpack with a fairly simple conversion.
The CRB is just the first release from the newly reformed Sneaky Bags. I hope that other designs, like their messenger bags, will be released soon. Hopefully, with SERT USA’s backing, they can overcome the demand issues that once plagued the original company.
The new PIG Rifle Stock Pack from SKD Tactical makes use of a high tech material, Hypalon, to increase function and reduce weight.
Hylpalon is a thin, rubbery material that is extremely durable and very lightweight. It is used in the loops that secure the shock cord lacing system. The rubbery texture of the Hypalon should help prevent the pack from shifting on the stock. It is also used on the recoil pad strap where it should be a real improvement over previous designs which used bulkier webbing that prevented the stock from gripping your shoulder.
The PIG Rifle Stock Pack also features plenty of internal storage and organization, a Drilex cheek pad, and a Velcro panel for attaching ID, patches, or dope cards.
S.O. Tech released a new image of the ESP (Expanding SERE Pack) that we previously mentioned. The image shows the original ALICE compatible version of the ESP from 2001 with a new prototype version that appears to be made from Multicam LiteLok material. S.O. Tech says that they are experimenting with different fabrics and that they are close to dialing in the final production version. LiteLok seems like the perfect material for an application like this.
Every once in a while Blue Force Gear releases a Limited Edition of the venerable Vickers Combat Applications Sling (VCAS). Sometimes these slings commemorate something like an appearance on Tac TV and sometimes they are just an excuse to make a really cool color combination available for a limited time. The new Sand Sling is the latter.
The Sand Sling features light sand colored webbing with a contrasting A-TACS camo pull tab. The hardware is all coyote brown and it has sewn in QD swivels. This is one sharp looking sling and because it is a VCAS, you know it’s functional too.
