Unity Tactical is now shipping the Monkey Bar, a Fusion compatible mount that replaces the rail clamp on the Magpul MBUS Pro Front Sight. The Monkey Bar adds just .2 ounces of weight over the MBUS Pro alone making it a very lightweight light mounting option for those who are already using an MBUS Pro.
What if you end up hitting your flashlight against a barricade or wall? After a few times, the zero might change.
I guess that could happen… maybe… but I would also suggest that there is a matter of priorities in play. You are talking about the zero on BACK UP iron sights (or at least the MBUS Pros will be used as back ups in most cases). I would think that I am more likely to use a weapon mounted light than my back up irons. I also know for sure that I will have to carry every ounce placed on the gun. So, for me, the need of having a light mounted exactly where I need it in a mount that helps keep weight to a minimum is more important than the maybe of losing zero on my back up sight.
I think the most likely outcome of banging the light around would be a bend in the thinner aluminum mounting bar, not the clamping surface. There’s still a steel screw maintaining the rigidity of the mount.
Good point.
