Ruger American Rifle Predator

The Ruger American Rifle is one of the best values on the bolt-action centerfire rifle market. The new American Rifle Predator is the latest addition to the line.

The American Rifle Predator features a threaded, hammer forged barrel that varies from 18″ to 22″ depending on caliber. The trigger is Ruger’s Marksman Adjustable Trigger and the lightweight stock is bedded and allows the barrel to free float. The rifle feeds from a detachable rotary magazine.

I am a sucker for lighter weight, compact precision bolt-actions like these – especially when they are suppressor ready. This would make a great base rifle for a light precision project on a budget.

Knockoff HSP D3CRs

Be advised, there are several knockoff HSP D3CRs on the market. Extreme Gear Labs recently posted images of one of them and the materials and workmanship is extremely insufficient for this type of gear. The problems include mismatched buckles, undersized pockets and flaps, cheap materials with little structure or durability, and insufficient stitch count. If you are in the market for a D3CR, be wary and buy from an authorized dealer.

TRICON TACOST-Rifle 1

TRICON’s TACOST-Rifle 1 (TAsk COnditions & Standards Rifle Training Program) is now available. I have been using the handgun version of this program and it is excellent.

TRICON TACOST Rifle

TACOST is a set of 52 drills developed by Jeff Gonzales that are printed on playing cards. The 4 suits serve to separate the drills into 4 categories: Marksmanship (Spades), Speed (Hearts), Dry fire (Diamonds), and Baseline (Clubs).

The genius of TACOST is the playing card format. It is easy to use, simply choose cards at random and complete the drills. The deck is extremely portable and, by consistently choosing from the same set of drills, you make your training repeatable and measurable.

Midwest Industries Lightweight Keymod Handguard

Midwest Industries‘ SSK KeyMod rails are already very light weight. Their newly released Lightweight KeyMod Handguard manages to shed even more weight by replacing the continuous top rail with KeyMod slots. The 12″ rail weighs only 8.1 ounces with the barrel nut!

Like the SSK rails, this one features 5 QD sling swivel slots. It uses the same proprietary barrel nut as the SS and SSK handguards. The top rail features a short section of 1913 rail on the front and rear portions of the rail with KeyMod slots between.

These will be available in 3-4 weeks.

V7 Weapon Systems AR-15 Upper Receivers

V7 Weapon Systems is appalled and offended by heavy AR-15s. They are continuing their all out assault on excess weight with the release of their new AR-15 upper receivers. These uppers look pretty typical at first glance but if you look closer you will notice a relief cut at the rear of the upper and a scalloped top rail.

The uppers are available in two versions. The first is a standard M4 spec upper. The second version sheds even more weight by removing the forward assist assembly. The M4 upper is also available with V7’s lightweight port door and forward assist assembly already installed.

Specs and features:

  • Material – 7075 T6 Aluminum
  • Finish – BLACK KG 2400 SERIES coating over hard anodization
  • M4 feedramps
  • Lifetime warranty

Check out the new uppers at V7 Weapon Systems.
