Vuurwapen Concepts

Vuurwapen ConceptsVuurwapen Concepts is a newly formed training outfit from some people that you should already know, Jim Staley of Deliberate Dynamics and Andrew Tuohy of Vuurwapen Blog. They are already receiving kudos for the few classes that they have instructed and, if you are familiar with their work separately, you know they won’t settle for anything other than high quality training.

Vuurwapen Concepts is building a course schedule and cadre of instructors who they promise will be knowledgeable in a variety of topics including breaching, medicine, and shooting. They plan to have at least 4 instructors at each course which should help with pace and allow students an extra measure of personalized instruction.

Have they retained the services of Rick Taylor?

I doubt there is room for both Andrew’s and Rick’s ego at Vuurwapen Concepts. 🙂

Does a course that is focused on vehicle shooting interest you? This would be a pistol, rifle, and potentially shotgun course that revolves around shooting from, into, and around vehicles. Use of cover, non-standard shooting positions, drawing from concealed/presentation from a vehicle, fire and maneuver, and scenario based training would all be included. It may also include shooting through light cover and some ballistics demonstrations on glass, car doors, etc. Thoughts and ideas are welcome. You can post here or on the Vuurwapen Concepts Facebook page. Thanks!

Nearly everyone I know spends at least a small portion of their day in and around a vehicle. Using a firearm defensively in and around vehicles presents a number of unique challenges that often aren’t addressed in basic courses due to the logistical difficulties of getting a vehicle onto a range for training. I would say a class like that would be extremely valuable.

Thanks Matt, we are in the process of working out a specific range that will allow the use of several different types of vehicles orientated in different directions that have different problems specific to each. The plan is for this to be 270 degree range that will allow for maximum flexibility. Unfortunately flexibility/realistic, safety, and being able to run several people through at the same time might not be possible. So since safety can’t be bent, we will likely error on the side of keeping things as real deal as possible even if we have to limit class size to keep the flow going……more to follow, continued input and ideas are welcome.
