HolsterWizard.com

HolsterWizard.com could be a handy source for anyone in the market for a new holster – especially for obscure or less popular handguns. It is basically a search engine for holsters that polls multiple manufacturers and puts all of that information at your finger tips.

I tested it by searching for holsters for the long discontinued Ruger Security Six. I thought it would probably turn up page after page of soft nylon universal holsters but it actually turned up 54 holsters, only a few of which were nylon universal type holsters. It even found some holsters that I hadn’t come across in my Google searches for Security Six holsters. I was very pleasantly surprised and it has already proven to be useful for me.

The Next Big Thing from Firelance Media

Firelance Media has proven their mettle with both video and still cameras. They have captured training courses, sporting events, products images, and more, but they are about to embark on their most ambitious project yet – Documerican Road (click here to read more at Firelance Media).

firelance media

The idea behind Documerican Road is simple. Matt at Firelance Media will put his video gear in his personal vehicle and start driving. He will have planned stops at various businesses in the firearms and sporting industry. There will also be plenty of time built in for unplanned stops along the way. The businesses he profiles will be small businesses, or small businesses that became more than small businesses, craftsman, trainers, makers, and anyone else that makes this industry tick.

The film that comes out of this trip will likely be part time capsule, part character study, part advertisement, part documentary, and all fascinating.

The idea of Documerican Road may be simple but the execution of it certainly won’t be. As you can imagine, this is going to be a large, expensive undertaking. There will be opportunities to help get this done so, keep an eye on the Firelance Media Facebook page and blog page for information.

Editor’s Note: Oh for goodness’ sake! Obviously, this is a joke. Magpul posted this great image of a skydiver with a PMAG on their Facebook page. No one likes waiting for PMAGs.

SturdiGuns

Toy guns and swords are disappearing from store shelves as our nation becomes increasingly politically correct and hoplophobic. If there are any toy guns available, they are generally poorly made and imported, or more complex than they need to be for child’s play (airsoft). That is why it warms my heart to come across a company like SturdiGuns.

9mm2

SturdiGuns makes simple, affordable toy guns, swords, battle axes, grenades, and more from honest-to-goodness wood. Your kid isn’t going to break these within the first few minutes of play. The selection is stunning. They have everything from frontier rifles, to WWII era SMGs, to modern AR-15s. They have gun that are obviously fantasy and guns with recognizable and realistic appearance.

Wooden toy guns aren’t new and these work for all the same reasons that wooden toys always have. They are lightweight, strong, and safe. They can be painted and customized. If they form rough spots, they can be easily repaired with sand paper.

These are the types of wooden toy guns that I wish I could have bought or made when I was a boy. Check out SturdiGuns.

Executive Action on Guns

I strongly recommend that you read through the Fact Sheet provided at WhiteHouse.gov in advance of the release of the President’s Executive Orders this morning. Much of the attention given these actions by gun owners has been centered on the ATF’s final ruling on ATF-41P which is set to change the way people access NFA items especially as it pertains to trusts and CLEO signoff. The Prince Law blog has one of the best synopses I’ve read on the ruling.

The breadth and width of these actions is still being parsed and it will likely remain that way for a long time. In true federal government fashion, they are steeped in ambiguity and seemingly purposefully designed to annoy more than actually deter.
