Geissele Automatics will be showing off their new Super Charging Handle at SHOT Show 2016. The new ambidextrous AR-15 charging handle is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and hard anodized in Black or DDC (brown). These are expected to retail for $89 in Black and $99 in DDC but those prices may change. Keep an eye out for AR308 versions in the future.
Next Intent Tactical’s new Adjustable Titanium Gas Block for lightweight barrels (.625″ gas block journal) is claimed to be the lightest adjustable gas block on the market. As the name suggests, it is machine from titanium and has a raw bead blasted finish. It clamps to the barrel with a single 8-32 machine screw and Belleville washer. The gas setting is lockable via a double set screw once the block is tuned to your rifle.
I recently found myself looking at chest holster options for hiking in areas where sharp clawed/teethed critters hang out and I came across the Kenai Chest Holster from GunfightersINC.
I have owned chest holsters before that ranged from cheap nylon to fairly expensive leather set ups. The nylon holsters are universally terrible and leather doesn’t provide enough retention on its own so they require some form of secondary retention which is less than ideal. If you have experience with chest holsters, it is easy to see why Kydex and similar thermoplastics, with their ability to retain the handgun aggressively, are the ideal material for this type of holster.
The Kenei Chest Holster features a Kydex holster body that is molded to the gun of your choice. The holster bodies are also available for purchase separately so you can just transfer the 3-point harness in the event that you purchase a different firearm at some point. The harness features wide webbing to support the weigh of the gun and elastic sections to keep it close to the wearer comfortably. It also positions the gun with the grip presented to the wearer’s strong hand for an easier draw stroke than most chest holsters.
Additionally, GunfightersINC offers a magazine pouch designed to be attached to the harness. This pouch can be placed on the lower horizontal strap with the magazine open to the support side. This horizontal placement prevents it from digging into your side and makes it more accessible to the support side hand. It is manufactured by Tactical Tailor and features the same proven rare earth magnet retention found on their other open top magazine pouches.
A holster like this could be very useful to those who work and play outdoors. I could also see it being useful to runners if a smaller handgun is chosen.

Gunstruction’s User’s Choice Builds are comprised of the most popular parts from each category in their virtual AR building software. These builds reflect the parts that Gunstruction users selected most frequently for their virtual builds which makes it a interesting window into consumer trends… and there is always something interesting about these builds.
The most interesting thing in the December AR-15 User’s Choice Build is the inclusion of an EOTech sight in spite of their very public issues. It is also noteworthy that these builds always feature a Magpul grip.
The December AR308 User’s Choice Build continues the trend of treating the rifle as a semi-auto precision tool rather than a more general purpose battle rifle.
Ballistic Advantage’s Barrel of the Week is a good one, especially if you are considering a RECCEish AR-15 build.
