PocketUp’s new Mini Sort Pocket is now available. This clamshell opening pocket is designed to organize small EDC items like cables, knives, lights, lighters, tools, and more.
The Mini Sort Pocket is constructed from double layer 400D nylon fabric with taped seams throughout, YKK zippers, and other mil-spec materials. It features a row of 2″ elastic loops of varying size, a zippered mesh pocket, and 2 slip pockets.
If you follow our EDC Tool Roll series, this could be a great option for a USA-made tool roll solution.
PocketUp’s PALS Park Pack is a descendant of a truly classic piece of gear!
Mel Terkla, owner of PocketUp, previously worked as a product designer and head of sales for Kifaru’s Military Sales Division. In that previous role, he was the designer of the venerable Kifaru E&E pack and now he is attempting to capture lightning in a bottle a second time with the PALS Park Pack.
Mel stated the following regarding the pack:
Here is a little history about our PALS Park Pack! Back in 2002 I designed the Kifaru E&E Pack, and it is still in production today! We sold hundreds and hundreds of E&E packs in the almost 13 years I was with Kifaru, and they are still selling. With our company PocketUp, I designed the Park Pack as a minimalist day pack, then updated the design and now offer a PALS version to compete with the E&E! Basically, it is my design competing with my design! So 17 years after the E&E , I wanted to design a pack in the same category, but with several improvements to take it to the next level…hence our PALS Park Pack! Those improvements being more comfort, simpler design, and updated features! They are both built with 1000d Cordura Nylon, are priced the same in each color with the updated shoulder straps on the E&E, and Made in the USA! The E&E weighs 1lb 12.5oz as shown and the PALS Park Pack weighs 1lb 7oz!
Sometimes you need a little more storage capacity or organization. Sometimes you don’t. PocketUp’s Morph Pockets can be attached to any MOLLE compatible surface and they lay completely flat when they aren’t needed. When they are needed, they can be expanded easily.
The Morph Pockets have a roll-top closure that can be folded down into the pouch to create an open-top for tall items. Both of the available sizes come with removable compression straps.
PocketUp, a nylon gear company started by Mel Terkla, just released their second pack. The Cruz Pack is a 10 1/2″ x 7″ x 2 1/4″ lumbar pack. It features a single pocket that is loaded with organization features like elastic loops, a variety of slot pockets, and a large zippered mesh pocket. The exterior features a single loop material panel for patches or ID.
The Cruz is designed to be comfortable and stable when worn tight to the waist of the wearer. PocketUp states that it does not work particularly well as a sling bag due to this design.
It comes in 2 standard colors: Wolf Grey or Black in 1000d Cordura. The interior is lined with Light Gray 400d Nylon for visibility and has contrasting black webbing, zippers, and binding.
PocketUp is a relatively new nylon gear company with someone you may already know at the helm. It was started by Mel Terkla and his wife Rena. Mel has been designing and building in this space for years including a long time stint as a designer and head of sales for Kifaru’s military sales division.
Their newest product will look familiar in concept to Kifaru users as Mel’s fingerprints are all over it. Their new Mini Pods are designed to be a versatile pouch that can be docked to almost any backpack with webbing on the bottom or sides.
The pouch features a 1000D Cordura top available in a number of colors. The skirt of the pouch is 40D pack clothe and is closed with a roll top. The Mini Pods have two compression straps that serve to both compress the contents and attach the pouch to your main pack. One side of the straps have a G-Hook and the other has a G-Loc. This strap and hook combination provides a lot flexibility in how the Mini Pod can be attached to a host pack.
