Forward Controls Design 6315 Flash Suppressor / Compensator

Forward Controls Design (FCD) likes the A2 flash suppressor as much as I do. Their new 6315 Flash Suppressor/Compensator is basically an love poem written in steel to the venerable old workhorse.

The 6315 is FCD’s idea of an improved A2 Flash Suppressor. It is machined from bar stock and nitride finished. They reshaped the ports slightly so the the 6315 is just as good of a flash suppressor than the A2 but offers more muzzle rise compensation. The redesigned ports left room for a new feature that some people are sure to giggle about – a fact that FCD is fully aware of…

Since we now have more room in front of the 3 and 9 o’clock ports, we incorporated wire cutter alignment notches ahead of these ports.  The wire cutter notches will probably earn us some flak and endless ribbing about having to cut wires at the range while punching holes on paper, but we always design combat features into our products, they’re there, you don’t have to use them 🙂

Throughout all of these changes, FCD maintained the same dimensions of the original A2 so the 6315 is fully compatible with BFAs and A2 mountable suppressors. You can check out the 6315 Flash Suppressor/Compensator at ForwardControlsDesign.com

Sneak Peek: Forward Control Designs ABC/R v2

Forward Controls Design is working on a new version of their Augmented Bolt Catch/Release (ABC/R). The new ABC/R v2 will feature a thinner, tapered upper paddle instead of the lightening cuts found on the original ABR/R.

This change will cut weight where it counts the most on a bolt catch. Before someone pitches a hissy fit about how lightweight AR accessories are out of control… It is important to keep any additional weight on the bolt catch to minimum. Additional weight on the paddle can cause reliability issues like the bolt locking back before the magazine is empty. I’ve seen these malfunctions caused by a number of aftermarket products that attach to the bolt release.

Forward Controls Design EMR-A Ambidextrous Magazine Release for AR-15s

Forward Controls Design will be releasing their EMR-A (Enhanced Magazine Release – Ambidextrous) soon and functional prototypes are already out in the wild making an appearance at Cola Warrior West III.

The EMR-A will be available with 2 lever options: standard and extended. The images that accompany this post show a prototype of the standard lever. The extended paddle will be just .09″ longer but because of how the assembly levers on the receiver itself, this little bit of extra length results in a lot of additional leverage. As is typical for Forward Controls Design, great care has gone into the shape of the lever with its shallow “V’ shape and serrations.

The EMR-A will also come with FCD’s new extra power magazine release spring. This spring offers 60% more resistance than the standard spring to prevent accidental activation of the magazine release. FCD has stated that their design for the EMR-A is not prone to accidental activation but they feel that the stock spring is underpowered. The spring is available for purchase separately.

You can expect the EMR-A to be available in a number of different bundles with either lever and the option to add one of Forward Controls Design’s EMR and EMR-C magazine release buttons. Stay tuned for pricing and availability information.
