Akula Muzzle Brake from ALG Defense

ALG Defense’s new Akula Muzzle Brake for the AK47 is now available.

The ALG Akula Muzzle Brake was built from the ground up to counter the recoil of the AK47 and redirect gases sideways, reducing the amount muzzle rise and ensure faster follow-up shots on target. Made from 1144 Steel and coated in Magnesium Phosphate, the Akula is made to live up to the durability of the AK platform. The Akula will interface with M14x1 Left Handed thread and features an adjustable timing (2 slant and 1 neutral position).

The product description aside, what I find appealing about the Akula is that it looks very much like an original slant brake. This could be appealing for those going for a certain look on their AK build while not wanting to sacrifice performance.

Geissele is Gearing Up for a Huge SHOT Show

Geissele Automatics and its related brands are gearing up for a massive SHOT Show. They are rolling out several new products including new rails and triggers. They are also rolling out two new brands under the Geissele Umbrella: NCC and Abraham & Moses Survival Equipment.

You can see a complete preview of all the new products in the video below. The video opens with ALG Defense, then moves on to Geissele’s new products, then details the new coating company NCC, and finally reveals the new knives coming from Abraham & Moses Survival Equipment.

ALG Defense EMR V0-E

ALG Defense has taken the wraps off the newest rail in the excellent Ergonomic Modular Rail (EMR) line – the EMR V0-E.

The EMR line is already very affordable thanks in large part to a design that requires much less machining than typical rails. The EMR V0-E takes that minimal machining idea to a new level. It is nearly a simple cylinder shape save for some venting at the front and subtle machined flats around the circumference of the tube. This allows the EMR V0-E to sell for a scant $80.

The vents on the forward portion of the tube will allow the user to attach the regular V0 rail sections so light and front sight mounting shouldn’t be a problem. The tube also includes a QD sling swivel socket for sling attachment. Other than that, the EMR V0-E is designed for the shooter who doesn’t need to attach a lot to their rail. This could be the ideal rail for hunting and precision applications or simply for a shooter who wants a solid rail on a tight budget.

It is tempting to think we have come full circle back to the days of knurled aluminum free float tubes but that isn’t necessarily the case here. Unlike the simple tubes of years past, the EMR V0-E is fairly light in weight (though obviously not as light as the regular V0), it is fairly small in diameter, and it has a very good barrel nut design which is something that most early tubes lacked.

ALG Defense AKT-E Now Shipping

That ripping sound that you hear is the sound of AK shooters across the country pulling out their wallets fast enough to tear their back pocket. There is finally some news on the much anticipated ALG Defense AKT-E, an enhanced version of their AK Trigger (AKT). ALG Defense is in the process of shipping pre-ordered AKT-E units and it is already showing up at some retailers though is not available on ALGDefense.com as of the time of this writing.

ALG Defense Go-Juice – Now Available

ALG Defense’s new gun lube, Go-Juice, is now shipping.

Gun lube doesn’t really get me very excited because I generally use them all the same way – add lots of it so the gun stays wet, repeat as needed. That approach seems to work for just about any lubrication product I use on my guns, whether that lube is gun-specific or not.

However, I do prefer to use a non-petroleum based product for my own health and a lube that stays put after being applied makes my life easier. ALG’s Go-Juice does both of those things… and its purple.
