GWACS Armory Tax Day Sale

GWACS Armory CAV15 MKII

I am a little late in spreading the word on this GWACS Armory Tax Day sale but there is still time. GWACS Armory is giving 10% off everything on their site including their CAV-15 MKII AR-15 Lowers in addition (discount added automatically at checkout) to the 5% discount you already receive as a Jerking the Trigger reader (use discount code “triggerjerk”)! The sale runs through midnight on April 21st, 2013.

Lionheart Industries

You may remember the Daewoo DP-51 and it’s unique “Triple Action” operation (now called Double Action +) but you don’t remember it like this… Lionheart Industries is importing the DP-51 again with a host of upgrades and they are calling it the LH9.

Lionheart Industries LH9

I have to hand it to Lionheart Industries. While I am as skeptical as I would be with any “new” handgun, they have certainly done this reintroduction the right way. They have partnered with companies that you already know and trust like Cerakote Firearm Coatings, Frog Lube, and G-Code Holsters and they include a bunch of gear that is actually useful with each handgun. Every LH9 comes with Frog Lube, a very nice cleaning kit, and a really useful field case. There are already holster options available because of the G-Code partnership. Other companies should take note. This is how to introduce a new handgun.

TacStrike Price Reduction

TacStrike 14 Scale

Rob at TacStrike must be a wizard. Usually, when you want something fast and good, it costs more. TacStrike figured out a way to reduce lead times on their 1/4 Scale Steel Target System and they reduced the price as well! It is the same great target but with shorter lead times and it costs less. That, right there, is wizardry.

VEPR 54R as a DMR?

I recently came across a post on M4Carbine.net that caught my eye. Scot, the head honcho of RS Regulate, started the thread and it outlined his plans for using a VEPR 54R chambered in 7.62x54R for a DMR project. It all sounds a bit like a modernized Dragunov to me and that is pretty darn cool. It also doesn’t hurt that 7.62x54R is still fairly widely available at low prices during this current ammo buying frenzy.

RS Regulate DMR

The RS Regulate VEPR 54R DMR build includes:

  • Vepr 54R 20″
  • Cut and crowned to 18.25″
  • Threaded 5/8-24
  • Surefire SOCOM 7.62FH
  • Krebs Vepr Rail
  • Vltor ModPod
  • RS AK-303 lower and AKR upper
  • Red Star Arms trigger set at 3#
  • Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10×32 FFP MIL/MIL
  • Magpul PRS stock

Interestingly enough, Snake Hound Machine has also been working on a very slick 7.62x54R project that was profiled on Four Guys Guns yesterday. The SHM build has more of a battle rifle bent to it than a precision bent like the RS Regulate project.

I am not sure what to think of all these slick 7.62x54R AK pattern rifles that are suddenly catching my eye. Maybe people are just really clever at finding ways to keep shooting during the ammo crunch or maybe the universe is trying to tell me I need a VEPR 54R DMR.
