Armageddon Gear Fat Bags

Armageddon Gear’s new Fat Bags are now available!

When it comes to building a shooting position, using muscle to support the position is less optimal and using rigid skeletal structure is the way to go when possible. If you have a void in your position, your muscles have to work to hold that position which introduces shake and fatigue. Fat Bags can be used to tie your position together. They can be tucked under your butt so it is resting on your heal, tucked under your weapon side arm in a kneeling position to tie everything into your weapon side leg, or any number of other uses. They can also be used to stabilize the forend of your rifle on platforms and barricades.

The Fat Bags are constructed from Cordura Nylon and are filled with airweight beads to keep their weight to a minimum. The large bag weighs just 11 ounces and the medium weighs just 7.4 ounces.

The large bag features a tapered design that makes it work more easily in the space you are most likely to use it which is under your weapon side arm. Both bags can be deployed in a number of ways that ensure they will be ready to use when you need them. They feature long Velcro straps that allow you to tie the bag onto your arm or the forend of your rifle. They also feature bungee straps that let you tie the bags onto your belt where they can be quickly placed into position without removing them from the belt.

Fat Bags are available in a variety of colors. Check them out at Armageddon Gear.

UW Gear Expands APC Chest Rig Options

UW Gear has expanded their line of APC Chest Rigs. You can read our previous entry about these rigs for background but basically, they are UW Gear’s first foray into all-MOLLE chest rigs. The APC rigs were previously only available in a compact chest rig format but the line has been expanded to include an all MOLLE version of UW Gear’s popular Swamp Fox Chest Rig that features an 8×3 PALS grid on each side of the split front panel.

The APC Rigs are still not a regular catalog item for UW Gear so if you want one, you will need to contact John at UW Gear.

Inlayed Aegis Buckles – Coming Soon from Mean Gene Leather

The Ares Gear Aegis Buckle in its many forms is already the classiest “tactical” belt buckle out there. That is doubly true when the Aegis Buckle is paired with a Mean Gene Leather (MGL) belt, but you haven’t seen anything yet. MGL is about to take the Aegis to a whole new level of classy with the introduction of Inlayed Aegis Buckles to be paired with their leather belts.

The buckles will feature wood inlays like Koa, Maple, and Walnut as well as carbon fiber for a more modern look. The wood inlays are all stabilized and have a Tru Oil gloss finish. These buckles will be available on new belts and owners of existing belts can contact Mean Gene Leather to have one retrofitted to their current belt.

D.A.R.K. Shingle

Dark Angel Medical’s D.A.R.K. Shingle might just solve a problem for you. It is a space saving, thin, med pouch that is designed to fit the typical 6×3 PALS webbing footprint found commonly on the front of plate carriers and even most compact chest rigs.

It attaches directly to your plate carrier or chest rig and provides a MOLLE compatible surface that you can attach your other pouches to. This saves space and gives your kit a lower profile by placing the blowout pouch behind your other pouches. Alternately, the D.A.R.K. Shingle may be placed anywhere that you need a low-profile medical kit. There could be applications for it on the rear plate pocket of a plate carrier or on the cummerbund to reduce bulk around your sides.

The blowout kit items located inside the D.A.R.K. Shingle may be accessed from either side of the kit. The side openings are secured by hook and loop and may be opened quickly via pull tabs.
