TACOST Training Program from TRICON

Variety may be the spice of life but it is also vitally important to your training regimen. The TACOST Training Program, designed by Jeff Gonzales of TRICON, is simple way to build a variety of proven drills into your range time.

Playing-Card-Draft-2

TACOST is a deck of cards, each with a specific drill listed on the card. The drills are broken into four groups: marksmanship, speed, baseline, and dry fire. The idea is that the shooter can pull as many cards as they need for a range trip, gather the gear needed for the drills on the cards, and then execute the drills on the range. The playing card form factor makes TACOST very portable and the drills very easy to vary. You can take as few or as many cards as you wish.

RUGER SR-762

I have been impressed with the Ruger SR-556 carbines that I have been able to handle and shoot. The one that Dann at God, Gals, Guns, Grub owns has been reliable through nearly 3000 rounds, is very accurate, and is fairly well appointed right out of the box. If only Ruger had chosen a better twist rate and a rail system that was user replaceable!

Ruger SR762

Now word is out that Ruger is releasing a 7.62×51 chambered AR called the SR-762 and it looks pretty good on paper. It has their 2-stage piston system with 4 position gas block much like the SR-556. The cold hammer-forged Mil-Spec 41V45 chrome-moly-vanadium steel barrel is fluted to reduce weight (8.6 pounds is not too shabby). I am relieved to see that they went with the SR-25 pattern magazine so the rifle is compatible with PMAGs.

If the SR-762 has a street price that is sub-$2000, is as accurate and reliable as its little brother, and Ruger can get them onto dealer’s shelves, they could have a real winner on their hands.
