Trooper-Gear SHTF+ Wrap

Trooper-Gear has a new version of their SHTF Wrap (Stop Heat TransFer Wrap). The SHTF+ Wrap is very similar to the original in form and function but it benefits from the addition of thermal insulating material that is sewn into the wrap. The thermal insulation allows it to protect the user from an even wider range of temperatures.

The SHTF+ Wrap is secured around your free float rail via Velcro. It protects from heat (and cold), provides grip, and protection for the rail when bracing on barricades. It is fits most slick-sided free float tubes (and many 4 rail tubes) and it adds minimal thickness which is nice when you have purposely chosen your rail to be thin. You can even sandwich your weapon light’s tape switch in the Velcro portion of the wrap.

Many of the slick sided free float tubes do not have a heat mitigation solution available. The SHTF+ Wrap is universal enough that it can fill that role. Check out the SHTF+ Wrap at

Wonder if this will stand up to suppressor heat? As in wrapped around the suppressor to shield the user of the heat and reduce mirage. Anyone know the temp rating?

Disregard, just saw it said not for use on suppressor in the description on the website.

    Or just wear gloves?

Gloves are great when you have them. The SHTF and SHTF+ Wraps serve a purpose much like rail covers.

I was using these before I was selling them because I live in Arizona where its 160 degrees inside a vehicle in the summer. If I carry a trunk rifle around for emergency use I don’t want to have to put on gloves because it was sitting in the vehicle too long. Likewise in action shooting competitions, I don’t want to lose manual dexterity by wearing gloves if I can help it. Simply leaving the rifle in a rack waiting for my turn to shoot could make it too hot to hold without a cover.
