S.O. Tech is introducing a new Coyote Brown color that will replace their previous Coyote Brown. The new color’s proper name is Tan 499 and it is a better match for use with camo patterns like Multicam.
From the S.O. Tech press release:
Here at S.O.TECH, It is our mission to provide the highest quality products available on the market today. We strive to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to our products and designs. Recently, we made a corporate decision to change the shade of our Coyote Brown nylon material. The old shade (with a hint of a green tone) will be phased out shortly. We feel this new shade is a step in the right direction and will meet the needs of our valued customers. If there are any comments associated with this color change, please leave us some feedback on our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/

that is pure dee crazy. thats just plain tan. not a new coyote brown…that’s freakin’ tan.
why they want to make this move is beyond me but i’m starting to see alot of gimmicks creeping into the gun and gear culture.
@solomon I think the reason why they are doing this is a purely a logistical move. Why do would a company want to stock 2 different colors for webbing, ribbon, & elastic when you can get away with using one color? Tan 499 color matches with Multicam but will also “pass” with MARPAT and Coyote Brown.
Isn’t the point of camouflage to use varying shades in order to break up a recognizable shape into smaller, unrecognizable shapes?
It’s not a fashion show it’s flippin’ camo. Besides, a day in the dirt will render any differences negligible anyhow, so this whole thing seems farcical
