I have had very good results with Volquartsen’s Exact Edge Extractors, especially in rimfire rifles. Now they are making a new version for the popular S&W M&P 15-22.
The Exact Edge Extractors are EDM cut from A2 tool steel. They are hardened. Volquartsen optimizes the geometry to improve extraction and I have been able to use these to improve extraction other finicky rimfire rifles.
Volquartsen Custom just released their drool-worthy Lightweight Barrel and Stock for the Ruger 10/22 Takedown. This comes as a complete unit that replaces the entire front end of your 10/22 Takedown. It includes a 16.25″ carbon fiber wrapped, threaded barrel with thread protector and hand guard machined from 6061-T6 aluminum. Two Picatinny rails are included – one mounted to the top of the barrel for scope mounting and an accessory rail on the bottom of the hand guard.
If you aren’t thrilled with the MIM extractor that is used on Remington 870 and 1100 shotguns these days, you’ll be interested to know that Volquartsen is now producing their Exact Edge Extractor for the old work horses. These extractors are wire EDM cut to incredibly tight tolerances from A2 tool steel and hardened to RC 58-60.
