Simple Threaded Devices Update

Well designed linear compensators like those from Black River Tactical and Simple Threaded Devices (STD) are not always given credit for being the excellent all around muzzle devices that they really are. I have come to like them quite a bit and while shopping for a Simple Threaded Device to try, I noticed that they were no longer offered on Amazon. A quick check of the STD Facebook page revealed why…

Amazon has been purging many gun parts from their pages after years of selling them. They determined that the muzzle devices violated their terms of service and removed them, leaving STD in the lurch. The muzzle devices are now available directly from Simple Threaded Devices.

So, if you are looking for an STD (that was as weird for me to type as it was for you to read), you can get them at Simple Threaded Devices’ new e-commerce site.

The below Simple Threaded Devices (STD) muzzle device is interesting for two reasons. First, it is a prototype 7.62 device that STD is currently testing. Production versions will be made from 4140 steel and nitride processed for corrosion resistance. Second, it shows an even simpler, no knurling surface treatment that they are trying.

News from Simple Threaded Devices

I admire companies who have never made a product that was good enough. Simple Threaded Devices wasn’t happy with the flash suppression performance of their 5.56 STD on shorter barrels with certain types of ammo so they set about creating an improved version.

The 5.56 STD is a very compact muzzle device that is designed to direct noise and concussion forward and away from the shooter. It is one of the devices that shined in Vuurwapen Blog’s muzzle device comparison.

Simple Threaded Devices states their new internal geometry will be advantageous versus their original 556 STD for barrels of less than 16″. The improved version has already completed testing and will be available in a matter of days. It certainly sounds like an interesting option for SBR and AR pistol owners.
