PWS has teamed up with Modern Musket to release a line of direct impingement AR-15s under the Modern Musket name. These complete AR-15 rifles, pistols, and upper receivers will come ready to use and have a host of desirable features like nitride processed barrel, ALG QMS trigger, PWS muzzle devices and rails, a Lucid RDS, and the Modern Musket logo engraved on the magazine well.

PWS is well known for their piston AR-15s. Now they are throwing their hat into the direct impingement (DI) ring.
Their DI uppers share many of the same features with their piston uppers like extended length KeyMod rails, QPQ (nitriding) processed barrels, and they are topped off with one of PWS’ great muzzle devices. The barrels have a 1 in 8″ twist and they feature a .223 Wylde chamber which should help a bit with accuracy while also handling 5.56 spec ammo.
The MAP for these uppers is $699 which isn’t bad considering what you get. That is especially true for the 14.5″ version since pinning and welding a muzzle device usually costs extra.

I will admit that I really don’t care for gas piston AR-15s… but I love seeing how things work! I wish more manufacturers would make informational product videos like this new one from PWS that details their MK1 Mod1 Piston System. It utilizes a cutaway version of a PWS carbine to great effect. This type of well presented information is educational, engaging, and impressive.
