Hill People Gear (HPG) has been showing pictures of their prototype internal frame pack – the Ute. The pack is roughly 24″ x 12″ x 7.5″ and will have many of the features and visual cues that you expect from Hill People Gear.
The pack pictured is a prototype. The production version may change.
There are a number of planned accessories for the Ute including a rifle scabbard. The Ute can be used as a stand-alone pack or with the addition of the HPG Compression Kit or Tarahumara pack for additional cargo capacity/organization.
According to Evan Hill of HPG:
Overall, the Ute is about taking the most useful HPG elements — simple top loading pack bag, back pocket / compression panel, sizable wand pockets, ample and configurable compression — making some simplifying assumptions because HPG has control of the entire system, and rolling it into a single “80% case” pack.
This pack looks like it has a ton of potential. Check out the discussion thread about the Ute pack on the Hill People Gear forum for more details and images.
