When I saw that Aero Precision began offering their own AR-15 barrels, I figured it was only a matter of time before they offered their own complete rifles. Not to toot my own horn, but I was right. They recently let the cat out of the bag with an image of one of their upcoming carbines that features their COP upper, lower receiver, and new M4 barrel. I will share more detailed specs when I have them.
Aero Precision is usually my first stop when I need an AR-15 upper or lower receiver. I have found their receivers to be an excellent value and it appears that their newest offering is going to be a great value as well. They are now serving up an M4 profile barrel that looks like a great value on paper.
The Aero Precision M4 Barrel is turned from 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium steel and features a 1 in 7″ twist. It has an M4 profile, carbine length gas system, a 5.56 chamber, and M4 feedramps. This barrel accepts a standard .750″ gas block over it’s .0635″ gas port. I commend Aero Precision for not only listing their gas port spec but also for sizing it correctly!
The icing on the cake is the inside and out QPQ finish. QPQ is a nitriding treatment. Similar finishes are often known by their trade names like Melonite and Tennifer. QPQ is hard enough and corrosion resistant enough to stand in for chrome lining. Since it is a treatment, not a coating, it adds almost no thickness to the bore which can lead to improved accuracy.

Aero Precision now has two new AR-15 lower receiver offerings that are worth mentioning. They are offering “pistol” marked lowers. Pistol markings are not necessary (see this post about the legalities of AR-15 pistols) but some people do prefer them. They can be tough to find so Aero Precision has stepped up to fill the niche. I should also mention that Aero Precision lowers are particularly well suited to pistol builds since they thread the selector detent hole for use with a 4-40 set screw which gives you some additional receiver extension options.
Additionally, they are offering multi-packs of their regular lower receivers in quantities of 3 and 5 (5 being the maximum number that will transfer on the same 4473 form). You can save quite a bit of money by purchasing them together and they are even offering 3 packs of their blemished lowers which will save you even more.
Last but not least… These limited edition Ghost Gun lowers are now available for pre-order. I generally don’t care for anything other than plain lowers but this is hilarious.
I mentioned this new Ambidextrous Lower Receiver Gen 2 from Aero Precision just yesterday and it became available for sale just last night. This lower is machined from a 7075-T6 aluminum forging. It is hard coat anodized and features completely ambidextrous controls. The special selector markings that allow BAD-ASS-ST and BAD-CASS-ST (short throw) compatibility are new to the Gen 2 version. Additionally, the selector hole has a small cutout so that the short throw levers can be installed without grinding down the pin that prevents them from being installed in standard lowers.

Two new products from Aero Precision have my attention. The first, an AR-15 lower receiver that is designed to be compatible with the excellent Battle Arms Development Short Throw BAD-ASS and BAD-CASS, is not available yet. Once it is available, I anticipate that it will be one of the most affordable lower receivers available that is designed to accept the short throw levers.
The second product is a slick side AR-15 upper. It seems like everyone wants AR-15 uppers without the superfluous forward assist but very few manufacturers make them and even fewer make them available as stripped uppers. Thankfully, Aero Precision has done just that. Their new slick sided upper receiver is now available.
