CDM Wave Safeties Compared

CDM Gear has rolled out a new version of their Wave Safety for Mossberg shotguns. The new Wave BT (Boat Tail) is similar in length but narrower than the original Wave. The idea behind these safeties is to make the safety easier to operate without adjusting your firing hand grip by extending the switch rearward. The extra width of the original Wave may be helpful for shooters with smaller hands while the Wave BT should be sufficient for those with larger hands.

The Wave and Wave BT are available at CDMGear.com.

B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. MAWL, LA-22/U, and IZLID to be Displayed at Milipol Paris 2017

November 17, 2017 (Redmond, WA) – B.E. Meyers’ MAWL, GLARE, and IZLID series of lasers will be on display at the SCOPEX exhibit (booth #L060) on November 21-24, at Milipol Paris 2017.

B.E. Meyers’ Modular Advanced Weapon Laser (MAWL), a high power infrared and visible green aiming and illumination laser for individual carbines, offers improved ergonomics, interface, and performance. The MAWL-DA has been designed from the ground up around the evolved needs of the modern night fighter and is currently in use and deployed on operations with both Tier 1 Special Forces, and internal security agencies in the U.S., Europe, and other nations.

The LA-22/U (formerly known as the GLARE RECOIL), was selected by MARCORSYSCOM as the sole source Hail and Warning device for the U.S. Marine Corps’ Ocular Interruption Systems (OIS) program. It features B.E. Meyers’ patented SmartRange™ technology that utilizes laser range finding and near-field detection to self-regulate power output. The result is controlled EyeSafe™ irradiance in addition to maximum permissible exposure on target. B.E. Meyers & Co. also offers a class 1M variant of the LA-22/U, the GLARE HELIOS.

Also displayed at the SCOPEX exhibit will be the IZLID series of lasers for Pointing and Illumination, including the IZLID Ultra. The IZLID Ultra is currently the standard for JTAC use. Featuring a beam bright enough to communicate with high-altitude aircraft, it excels even under conditions containing high ambient light.

B.E. Meyers & Co. Director of Business Development, Jamie Wilford, will be at the SCOPEX booth November 22-23 to provide detailed information about the company’s products.

Primary Arms Advanced Micro Dot With Removable Base, Rotary Knob and 50k-Hour Battery Life

The newest Advanced Micro Dot from Primary Arms is now available. The new Advanced Micro Dot (MD-RB-AD) features a removable base with broad mount compatibility and 50K hour battery life. The biggest news is that this new version is activated and has its 11 intensity selected via a rotary knob rather than buttons.

From Primary Arms:

The Microdot, Removable Base, Advanced sight (MD-RB-AD) takes everything we learned from our best selling MD-ADS microdot and refines it a step further. MD-RB-AD features an estimated 50,000 hours of battery life from the included CR2032 battery, powering an ultra-sharp 2 MOA dot. Fully multicoated lenses and an ultra-low profile emitter ensure a clean sight picture with minimal lens tint. Eleven brightness settings are controlled by the rotary knob on the right side. The first two settings are compatible with night vision units and cannot be seen by the naked eye. The brightest settings are daylight bright. The illumination knob physically stops at “0” with the red dot turned off.

Covered by the Primary Arms lifetime warranty, MD-RB-AD is designed for use on heavy recoiling firearms such as shotguns. Constructed of 6061 aluminum throughout, MD-RB-AD features a Type II anodized matte black finish. Waterproofing is improved over previous models—for example, the turret caps are now aluminum instead of plastic and tighten down around the waterproofing O-rings until metal-to-metal contact with the scope body. When removed, the turret caps can be used to adjust windage and elevation.

MD-RB-AD comes with a removable 1913 MIL STD Picatinny base. With the base removed, the scope body is compatible with industry standard micro mount systems, enabling MD-RB-AD to be mounted correctly on a wide variety of firearms.

The Weatherneck

The Weatherneck is a balaclava that was designed by the people behind Fix It Sticks and packed with smart features. It could be just the ticket for making cold weather training a bit more bearable.

If you live somewhere warm, stay out of the comments. I don’t want to hear it.

Most balaclavas pose a problem for shooters and hunters (or anyone else wearing glasses while being active) because they cover your mouth and exhaled breath is forced up onto the user’s eye protection, fogging immediately and forever. The Weatherneck approaches the problem in two different ways:

First, the Weatherneck is actually two separate garments that work together – the Mullet Cap and the Facemask. The Facemask is joined to the Mullet Cap via magnets so it can be installed, removed, and adjusted for fit easily. The Weatherneck Facemask and Mullet Cap can also be worn individually or combined making this a 3 in 1 system and making it easier to regulate your body temperature.

Second, the Facemask has a mesh panel that allows the wearer’s breath to pass through instead of being pushed up onto your eyewear. It is less likely to fog your glasses but still keeps your face warm.

By now you are probably wondering how I could type “Mullet Cap” so many times without explaining why it is called that. I’m glad you asked. It has been weighing on me too. I mean, this isn’t the late ’90s when you can just say the word “mullet” and get a laugh. It must be called that for a reason! The Mullet Cap is so called for its unique shape that extends down the back of the wearer’s neck like a… mullet. The extension serves to keep the wearer’s neck warm and to hold the magnets that help join the Mullet Cap to with the Facemask. It also has a handy hidden pocket for storing cash, credit cards, a hand warmer, or a stash of Mike and Ikes.

The Weatherneck is made in the USA. You can check it out at TheWeatherneck.com.
