Remember All That Great Gear from Ares Armor?

Remember all the great gear that came out of Ares Armor? They had some very well made and well designed gear like the Combat XII Pack line with its ability to carry gear and externally accessible magazines on your plate carrier, or the Derma Plate carrier with its exclusive AustriAlpin COBRA closure system. I just learned that many of those items are still available through a company called American Weapon Components.

My understanding is that ares armour changed their name to American weapon components. No idea why they had to choose such a bulky name though

Word on the street is that their customer service and QC plummeted after the original owners sold it. Social media backlash was enough that they changed names. Buyer beware.

DONT DO IT! It is the guy that took over ARES Armor and moved it out of CA. They took my money as ARES and no product (including an XII pack) for 1 year and a half now. Promises after promises were made (I have all the emails with their sad tales of woe and promises to make good) and stupid excuses about employees stealing all their product. Long story short, they told me they would make good and still have not. Avoid these crooks like the plague!

The owner of AWC forced out all the old Ares employees to include the nylon designer Jonathan ZumMallen. Jon has now started his own company Arbor Arms with a much cleaner version of the Derma called the Flex. Here is little bio on him

Thats not “Still being made” gear, thats stolen. The guy who took over Ares is a shyster and a thief. Don’t patronize people without honor.
