The image above may not look like much at first glance but it is actually pretty darn cool. You are looking at the very first AK that was built in America, by Americans, with a front trunnion, bolt, and bolt carrier that were all hammer forged here in the states. That is a whole lot of American and a whole lot of hammer forged goodness.
Kudos to DDI for pushing the boundaries of American made AKs.
Im proud of DDI and I want to Own one of these AKs. This proves that whatever 3rd workd countries do the USA can do better.
How does a press release prove anything? Go to the DDI webpage; every single item on the front page that is listed as a “featured item” is OUT OF STOCK. That means production isn’t ramped up. You can’t even click on many of them items to learn more, even though the page invites you to do that.
A scientific evaluation would prove something. Large samples going through strictly controlled testing compared to large samples from “third world countries.” A moron on YouTube conducting a sample of one proves nothing at all.
Do a little research; Russia is not stuck in the doldrums of innovation anymore-this isn’t 1961. Even then, they did plenty of innovation, they just made things more crudely. Currently the Russians produce things just like we do. They are producing rifles just like the kind of rifles one sees at a PRS match.
The advantage of Youtube and reviews on the web is there is a Lot of info out there today, if DDI was making poor quality guns it wouldnt be a seceret. Steve Fuller who owns Rifle Dynamics has praised the guns made by DDI
YouTube does provide a lot of great info. The problem is when some schmuck takes a gun and puts its through a “torture test” that is not scientifically repeatable and then makes some decree about a product. While this might be entertaining for some viewers, it is of no value.
DDI probably makes great guns, but your comment that “we can do anything better than third world countries can” is baseless. Especially if you’re under the impression that Russia is a third world nation.
That’s a pretty low bar.
What’s a low bar?
It was about time someone stepped up. Thanks DDI!
Nice work DDI. Sadly, those of us stuck in states where scary guns are banned can only watch your work from the sidelines. Sigh.
Saddly I live in CT but eventually I’ll live in a free state and own an Anerican Made DDI
