It is hard to believe that 11 years have passed since the attacks of September 11th, 2001. It seems like it was just yesterday and like it was a lifetime ago all at the same time.
I was watching the morning news at home when they broke in with a report that one of the towers had been struck. The initial speculation among the reporters on ABC was that this must be some kind of freak aviation accident. Moments after, we watched in horror as the second plane impacted on live TV. It was Charles Gibson of ABC news who finally connected the dots that my mind was refusing to put together. This was a deliberate attack – an attack that would cost this country 2,977 lives.
In the days that followed the nation watched as countless First Responders showed their courage and as our Military showed why they are heroes. They were tested and showed themselves capable, courageous, and ready.
