Midwest Industries M-LOK Hand Guard for the FN SCAR

Midwest Industries has brought more direct-connect capable hand guards for more rifles to market than anyone. Their latest is an M-LOK compatible hand guard for the FN SCAR.

MI MLOK SCAR

The new hand guard has 18 slots in various locations for attaching M-LOK compatible accessories and a short section of 1913 rail at 12 o’clock forward of the front sight. It is machined from 6061 aluminum with a hard anodized finish. Like MI’s other SCAR rails, this one extends forward of the front sight to provide additional mounting surface for accessories and gripping surface for the shooter.

The retail price will be under $200 and it will be available in about 4 weeks.

Arisaka Finger Stop

Arisaka’s Finger Rest is a bit different than most hand stops. It is smaller and more rounded, like the world’s tiniest vertical grip, so that it can slip between the shooter’s index and middle fingers, a technique that I use on occasion with a standard hand stop when my shooting position dictates it. This design allows the shooter to place the Finger Stop further forward on the rail which can provide additional space should you need to move your hand back on the rail as you would in a kneeling position.

At just .4 oz in weight, it is less than half the weight of most hand stops. I have written about how the weight of a hand stop is well worth the functionality that it brings. The Finger Stop would have all the same benefits at less than half the weight. Lightweight AR builders take note.

The Finger stop is available for the Centurion Arms CMR, KeyMod, and M-LOK. I believe it takes real work and ingenuity to reduce something to its simplest form. I am not sure I have ever seen a more minimalist and simple weapon control device than the Arisaka Finger Stop.

More New M-LOK Accessories from Magpul

Magpul just released 4 new M-LOK accessories.

MLOK polymer rail

M-LOK Rail Sections, Polymer: As you might have guessed from the name, these are rail sections made from polymer. They are available in 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 slot lengths.

MLOK MOE Adapters

M-LOK to MOE Adapter Kit: This is likely the most interesting product of this release. These adapter plates are customizable for length and used to adapt the larger M-LOK holes to work with legacy MOE accessories. So, if you are sitting on a pile of parts for your old MOE Hand Guards but want to update to the new MOE SL Hand Guard, you may be able to use these to avoid buying all new accessories.

MLOK cantilever polymer

M-LOK Cantilever Rail/Light Mount, Polymer: This is just like the aluminum version but made from injection molded polymer. This one hurts a little because I just bought one of the aluminum ones last week and the less expensive polymer version would have worked just as well for my needs.

MLOK TNUTS

M-LOK T-Nut Replacement Set: If you break/mangle/lose/accidentally swallow your T-Nuts, you can buy replacements.

Magpul Releases New M-LOK Accessories

Magpul just dropped the motherload of M-LOK accessories. While not especially sexy, these are the types of items that are necessary to round out the usefulness of and sustain an attachment system like M-LOK.

Magpul M-LOK mvg

The M-LOK MVG is an M-LOK compatible, direct-connect vertical grip. Vertical grips are important to any system like this so it is nice to see this on the market. Additionally, Magpul makes these so that they are easy to modify into shorter grips or handstops.

Magpul M-LOK offset light

The M-LOK Offset Light/Optic Mount is a versatile light mount. It provides an offset, 3-slot section of rail for mounting lights, optics, and other accessories. You can also direct-connect Surefire’s Scout Lights or use Magpul’s V-Block and Rings to attach any light with a diameter of 0.75 to 1.03″.

Magpul M-LOK sling

Magpul’s M-LOK QD Sling Mount is a welcomed addition to the M-LOK line. This QD sling swivel socket is machined from aluminum and hard anodized, rotation limited, and aggressively beveled to lower the profile and reduce snagging.

Magpul M-LOK bipod

Finally, the M-LOK Bipod Mount provides a low profile stud for mounting a bipod.

MI M-LOK Hand Guard for the Tavor

Midwest Industries (MI) just released a sneak peak at their upcoming M-LOK Hand Guard for the IWI Tavor. The images show a pre-production version of the hand guard so there may be some changes to the production model. It is basically very similar to their other Tavor hand guards with the exception of the M-LOK spec slots.

MI doesn’t usually keep you waiting for long after they release images of the pre-production product so these will likely be available soon.
