In an effort to keep the meaning of Memorial Day at the forefront of our thoughts, our family sets aside time to do some kind of purposeful remembrance. That could be a visit to a nearby war memorial or a craft and some discussion with our kids.
In a world where Memorial Day is also an anticipated day off from work and a shopping event, I think it is important to refocus my little ones on the deeper meaning that real people sacrificed in real ways in the defense of this nation. I would encourage you and yours to do the same.
