Duckbill Tactical Grip in FDE

It has been a long time since I mentioned the Duckbill Tactical Grip. There are certainly newer grips on the market but if you prefer a slimmer grip or want a more traditional looking grip, the Duckbill Tactical Grip may be just what the doctor ordered. It is basically an A2 grip without the typical deficiencies of the A2 grip. It has a comfortable and grippy pebbled texture, the finger groove has been removed, and the duckbill extension covers the trigger guard gap.

Now, it is finally being offered in FDE. The manufacturer tells me that their FDE color is a good match for many of the existing FDE colors on the market including Magpul’s.

EGL Multitasker Series 3 Pouch

Extreme Gear Labs recently showed their Multitasker Series 3 Pouch. It is designed to hold a Multitasker Series 3 (and I suspect other generations of the Multitasker will fit too), all your bits, and there is even room for a Patriot Products Combat Optic Tool. The pouch features a hook and loop closure with loop material coverage on the front flap.

This pouch keeps your tools at hand so you can feel like Tactical MacGyver except without all the pansy anti-gun stuff. Check out the EGL Facebook Page for more details.

Gen II Load Lifter Panel from Oneiros Valley

This just made my day. Oneiros Valley has released their Gen II Load Lifter Panel for the Mystery Ranch NICE Frame. I didn’t know such a thing existed but I have known that there was a need for it since I started using a NICE Frame.

The Gen II Load Lifter Panel (LLP) is panel that attaches to your NICE Frame to extend the length of the stays. My only real complaint with my NICE Frame is that it is too short which means it can be difficult to have enough height on the load lifters to effectively transfer the weight of the pack onto the hips. The LLP solves that problem by attaching to the NICE Frame without tools and providing up to 6 inches of additional frame height.

The LLP weighs only 7.7 ounces is is available in two colors to match most NICE Frames. This new Gen 2 version is considerably more streamlined than the original. The user has the choice of heavy duty fiber-glass stays or lightweight carbon fiber stays (carbon fiber adds $10 to the total price). They even thoughtfully include an adapter that allows the LLP to work with the Crew Cab backpack.

I am definitely going to pick one of these up. If you own a NICE Frame and more than 6′ tall, you know how much something like this is needed.

Parallax Tactical PXT Extreme Uppers

I am in the process of building an AR-15 right now. When I was shopping for uppers, I came across Parallax Tactical’s PWT Extreme Uppers and was blown away by their components and price. These are some high value uppers.

The heart of any upper is its barrel. Parallax Tactical uses barrels from Black Hole Weaponry that have been made to their specs. They are 416R stainless barrels with 1 in 8″ polygonal rifling chambered for 5.56. The barrels are Melonite treated which stainless steel barrels benefit from in a number of ways like increased barrel life and a more subdued appearance.

Parallax Tactical fits one of their own rails like their FFSSR or FFSSR KeyMod rail. The rails are available in a variety of lengths. You will find one of Parallax Tactical’s Super-Lightweight Low Profile Gas Black under the rail and the barrel appears to be dimpled to prevent the gas block from rotating.

The bolt carrier group consists of a standard black phosphate 8620 steel bolt that has been MPI tested. The carrier is also 8620 steel and Melonite treated. You can upgrade to a full NiBX treated BCG if they are available. The gas tube is also Melonite treated.

The barrel is capped off with one of Parallax Tactical’s Paracomps with is machined from 17-7PH stainless steel and Melonite treated.

To top all of that off, Parallax Tactical is a full service shop that offers coating services and a full line of accessories. You can basically look at these uppers as a starting point and build from there. For instance, I wanted a different barrel profile than the standard M4 profile that was offered and they were able to accommodate. They also Cerakoted the entire upper FDE for me.

SERT PENUMBRA Backpack and New Slate Gray Color

The new PENUMBRA Backpack is SERT’s vision of the perfect travel backpack that can also pull duty as an EDC bag or office bag.

The PENUMBRA features a total of 6 compartments that total 32 liters of storage space with numerous internal organization features. There are two zippered side pouches that are designed to store the items that you would typically have to remove from your person at a TSA checkpoint or they can be used to hold water bottles.

The main body of the bag is split into 4 compartments. The forward most compartment features internal mesh pockets for small item storage. The second pouch features very impressive admin organizer along with additional space for medium sized items.

The next compartment is the main storage area of the bag with room for bulkier items and loop Velcro for mounting Velcro backed pouches. The final and rear most compartment is a padded laptop sleeve that can store up to a 17″ laptop.

You’ll also find 10ooD Cordura nylon construction, lockable YKK zippers, well padded back panel and shoulder straps, WOOJIN hardware, and side compression straps.

The PENUMBRA is available in 4 colors including Black, Coyote Brown, Medium Navy, and a new Slate Gray color that is being added to the entire SERT line.
