PHLSTER Enigma Reveal

PHLSTER has been teasing the Enigma recently and now the cat is out of the bag. Enigma is a “Concealment Chassis” that allows for concealing a handgun completely independent of your clothing choices.

I highly recommend watching the reveal video posted to PHLSTER’s Instagram page as it does an excellent job of showing what Enigma is and what it does. The video also does a good job placing it in a variety of common situations that you might otherwise have a hard time carrying a concealed handgun to give you context for its capabilities.

Enigma is expected to be available to order on Black Friday.

    Hahaha nice garter belt.
Instead of strapping in some bdsm belt with tassels why didn’t they just make undies to conceal in.
“Hold on my g-string is chaffing my nuts”
It’s pretty apparent they needed more people in on that meeting…

    • DerpAlert November 19, 2020 at 08:00 #

LOL! I guess tactical G-Strings are the next big thing…but yeah this is one for the record books in terms of poor design. Any dude that hasn’t been castrated is going to find this horribly uncomfortable.

2 years of R&D with some of the top people in the industry. I think they would have noticed if it were uncomfortable.

      • DerpAlert November 20, 2020 at 06:13 #

Having worked in the gun industry for many years I can tell you wholeheartedly that the “top people in the industry” don’t know their own sphincter from a hole in the ground. The CEO of Smith and Wesson doesn’t even know how to hold a gun and has probably fired one less times than he has fingers on his hands.

While I can applaud them for thinking outside the box, having a string go around your fellas is not innovation, its going to be uncomfortable.

        • Marc November 20, 2020 at 11:22 #

I don’t think you’re supposed to tie it around your nuts, bud

          • DerpAlert November 22, 2020 at 10:14 #

Either you didn’t see the video or apparently do not have any testicles

          • Mac November 25, 2020 at 08:15 #

Agreed. A few days of potent jock itch will deteriorate that string thus breaking. Try razor wire for giggles.

The leg lanyard works a lot better if you loop it around your leg rather than your balls, but far be it from me to kink shame if that’s what you’re into.

I will note that off label use is not covered by our lifetime warranty, so you’re on your own for any damages sustained during creative interpretations of the product instructions.

          😉

No one better equipped to discuss the male anatomy than Sarah…The para chord (lanyard, rope, string, whatever the hell it is) wraps around inguinal ligament. In order to tie around your leg, it has to go in this area, which subsequently is where you have 2 testicles. This is not my opinion, this is from the promo vid, see links below for screenshots.

            https://ibb.co/fYxFp1G

*facepalm* I didn’t mean you actually use the para chord to tie your nuts like a calf, I meant it has to go “AROUND” your nuts.

Okay, in all seriousness, I can totally see why you’d think that. The internal structures of the body are not always obvious from the outside, especially in a shot like this where there are few visual reference points. Luckily, identifying anatomical structures is literally what I do for my day job, so I’ll show you exactly where these structures line up on me (I’m the one in the video).

I took your screenshot and added a helpful anatomical overlay (link below). The inguinal ligament is marked in red. The inguinal ligament connects two bony structures in your pelvis. It’s contained entirely within your abdominal wall, so there’s no way you could wrap a cord around it, short of surgery.

The inguinal canal passes through the abdominal wall to the outside, carrying the spermatic cord, which goes to your testes. I marked that in blue on the picture.

I can easily see how you would think Enigma’s leg lanyard would pass over the testicles if you were thinking about this picture in two dimensions. Visually, the lanyard appears to pass over the blue line, so it’s an easy assumption to make. But luckily for all of the men who have extensively tested this product, the blue line is on a different three dimensional axis. The blue line is outside the abdominal wall, running from the inguinal canal to the testes.

That means that unless you actually pin your testicles to your leg and hold them there while you wrap the lanyard around them (not recommended), the lanyard merely passes around the thigh only. Just like the leg lanyard on a drop leg holster, it’s there to keep the holster from pulling up when you draw. The rest of the time, it’s neutral and unobtrusive.

You can adjust the lanyard however you like. Because of the way my thighs taper, I like to keep mine about as tight as the leg holes on my underwear. That way it nestles right into the crook of my thigh and is comfortable for all day wear. If you have thinner or less tapered thighs, you might want to adjust yours a little lower or looser, but that’s a personal preference.

The lanyard is fully adjustable for both drop and thigh circumference, so you can set it wherever you’d like it. It will fit thighs from 20-36 inches. Over the last few years of development, our test group has done everything from jogging to weight lifting to shooting multiple day, high round count classes with it. Feedback has been very positive.

In any case, we have a 30 day return policy, so it’s pretty low risk to try it out for yourself.

You guys may be surprised. Try it before you dis it. Jon at Phlster is a holster genius. This is a major game changer for deep concealment and greatly expands a woman’s ability to carry in “normal” clothes.

    • DerpAlert November 20, 2020 at 06:16 #

Not everything a “genius” makes is good…plus you said the key word here “woman’s” ability to carry…I was clearly pointing out that no dude, unless he has been castrated, is going to find this comfortable…and I stand by that.

If your a dude that wears boxers this is going to seriously be uncomfortable as it will bunch up the boxers on one side…If you are expecting guys to place the string underneath the boxers then your just asking for chaffing and a whole mess of other problems…Its just a bad idea all the way around.

      • Jon November 20, 2020 at 10:12 #

We’ve had real instructors, professionals, and trainers doing BJJ, working out, and distance running in this rig. It does not generate the discomfort issues you’re concerned about. If it did, it wouldn’t be like this at launch.

        • DerpAlert November 22, 2020 at 10:25 #

Either none of your “instructors” wore boxers, did not have male genitalia or as is often the case you are releasing something that has “neva been dun befo” in order to get some marketing and pr…

          • Jon November 22, 2020 at 16:54 #

I know you’re probably used to the usual firearms industry nonsense in which people release poorly thought-out crap and think it’s amazing. That’s just not what we do. We’re not the kind of operation which overlooks and neglects clearly obvious concerns like the one you’re expressing. This component has no contact with your groin and it’s adjustable in several directions to avoid that.

Or you can be angry at something new for no reason other than your imagination about it.

            GHEEZ! THEN DON’t BUY ONE!!!!
I for one plan on getting one for myself

  3. Blake November 19, 2020 at 09:40 #

I’m looking forward to seeing the reviews on it. Trying to conceal a full size pistol in Florida in August is a bear of a task, if you’re not trying to look like someone carrying a gun. The line of thinking that this is a tactical g-string is probably akin to the people who refused to carry their guns in “plastic Tupperware” when kydex holsters were first introduced.

Some people here clearly don’t understand basic human anatomy, and/or didn’t watch the video. How you could get that leg retention cable around your nuts or up your ass is beyond me. You’d have to intentionally set out to do that, and if that’s what you’re into, be my guest. If you just don’t understand the concept, I’m guessing you need to reference the directions on your plain pop tarts.

Oh man I don’t know what gave me the impression that you have to tie a chord around the inguinal ligament/ SARC

Maybe if your testicles drop you’ll find these uncomfortable…

    • DerpAlert November 22, 2020 at 10:27 #

What ever gave me the idea that this thing wraps around your inguinal ligament? /SARC

Hmmm I wonder what could have given me the idea that this thing wraps around your inguinal ligament? /SARC

Apparently you are the one who did not either see the video or have not concept of human anatomy…I refer you to watch the promo video from 47 seconds to 52 seconds…I know math is hard but you can do it!

      • Sasquatch November 22, 2020 at 21:19 #

When you like your opinion so much you have to post the same comment numerous times. Kinda sad.

      • Jon November 23, 2020 at 06:09 #

You’re taking issue with a depiction of an adjustable feature of the device wherein an obviously female user has adjusted it to fit her body appropriately. The cord isn’t a fixed length and men wear it in the same location that they’d wear the leg strap for a drop leg.

  5. Raúl Martínez November 21, 2020 at 17:57 #
