The new Scalarworks LEAP/03 Mount for the Aimpoint ACRO is now available. These mounts bring the same lightweight but durable design for which Scalarworks is known to an already very compact and lightweight optic. They also feature Scalarworks’ excellent and compact ClickDrive QD mechanism.
The LEAP/03 mounts are available in both absolute and lower 1/3rd co-witness heights. Both are feather weights at around 1.5 ounces.

I posted about Scalarworks’ upcoming LEAP Scope Mount yesterday. In that post, I mentioned that LDM mounts were being rebranded as LEAP mounts which prompted a few curious emails about the fate of LDMs to land in my inbox. Here’s the scoop…
Scalarworks has stated that the move from LDM to LEAP is “mostly a re-branding” which would make it seem like nothing changed except the name. However, if you know Scalarworks and how they are constantly improving their products you should be rightly skeptical. This is more than just a name change and that’s good news for you.
The LEAP mounts are a new evolution of the LDM mounts with noteworthy changes including a new stopper on the clamping mechanism and updated styling. Perhaps most interestingly, the new LEAP mounts feature some structural changes that has been lab tested to produce a higher strength to weight ratio.
Since the introduction of the Scalarworks LDM for the Aimpoint Micro series, we’ve all been wondering when the LDM (now rebranded LEAP) mount technologies and radically skeletonized design would be applied to magnified optics. Well, the answer is about 6-8 week from the time of this posting.
Scalarworks has given us a sneak peek at their upcoming LEAP Scope Mount. The mount is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, features a cantilevered design with dual scope rings for proper eye relief on AR type rifles, weighs in at under 5.5 ounces, and has 2 Quantum QD Screws for joining the mount to the rail.
The extent of Scalarworks’ efforts to take weight out of this mount in a way that keeps it rigid and durable aren’t really evident until you see the under side of the mount (see image below). While the mount has a solid appearance, the view from the bottom reveals the large pockets of material that has been removed. Weight has also been removed with flutes on the scope rings rather than skeletonization. This approach reduces weight but retains surface area for gripping the optic.
It’s here! Scalarworks just released their LDM/PRO – the newest mount in their Low Drag Mount series designed for 30mm Aimpoints and similar red dot optics.
Easton, PA – August 22, 2017 – Scalarworks is pleased to introduce the Low Drag MountTM for Aimpoint PRO sights; the lightest quick-detach Aimpoint PRO mount in existence.
The LDM/PRO is a lightweight, high-strength, low-profile, quick-detach optic mount for with MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails, that is compatible with the Aimpoint PRO, Aimpoint ACO, Aimpoint CompM2, and Aimpoint CompM3, and most other 30mm tube sights.
The Scalarworks LDM/PRO features a user friendly and low-profile 30mm ring. The Scalarworks ring has a precision fitted alloy steel hinge that ensures even pressure around the optic, without requiring the tedious and imprecise setup that traditional rings do. Twin oversize CNC machined shoulder screws provide even tension and act as structural elements, making the entire ring assembly phenomenally rigid.
Like every Scalarworks Low Drag MountTM, the LDM/PRO has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any quick detach mount on the market. It’s tubular monolithic base is CNC machined from ultra high-strength 7075-T6 aluminum, and features our patented recoil-proof thumbscrew with ball detent mechanism. It also has the same precision telescoping clamp as our popular Aimpoint Micro, and Trijicon MRO mounts, which ensures a repeatable zero with each installation.
The LDM/PRO weighs less than 2.45oz (in lower-third height) which is less than half that of Aimpoint’s bundled QRP2 mount. The LDM/PRO is proudly made in the USA, and is available in both Absolute and Lower-Third Co-Witness height variants.
