InnerBark Outdoors x Work Tuff Gear Klapatche Companion Knife

Andy Tran of InnerBark Outdoors has a new knife design that is being produced by Work Tuff Gear. The Klapatche Companion Knife is designed to be a companion to a larger knife or axe but can also serve the role of an EDC fixed blade thanks to it’s sheath design.

The Klapatche is a companion knife to larger knives or axes for the serious adventurist or as a standalone blade for those wanting a highly capable knife in a compact and lightweight package. The wider blade allows you to dig the blade deep into wood with a baton. The thumb ramp has a hole that is the perfect size to remove bullets from cartridges so the powder can be used for fire-starting. The handle is shaped to allow for multiple grips (forward grip, reverse grip, blade down etc.). The sheath is equipped with an Ulti-Clip, keeping the sheath secured in your pocket as you draw the knife. The design and ergonomics makes the Klapatche a go-to blade for any outdoor enthusiast.

TOPS Knives ICE Dagger

The ICE Dagger is another collaboration between InnerBark Outdoors Head Honcho Andy Tran and TOPS Knives. These two previously collaborated on the Tahoma Field Knife. Andy is a National Park Service Protection Officer and this law enforcement experience is baked into the design of the new knife.

The design features a double edged, spear point blade with a compound grind that creates an obtuse, reinforced tip with edges that still cut aggressively. The knife features textured G-10 scales that can removed and replaced with a cord warp if the user prefers a slimmer profile. It also features a ring at the base of the grip to provide a number of grip options.

The sheath for this knife is an exciting departure for TOPS Knives. All of their current kydex sheaths have been made with a fold-over design and a rotary belt clip. The sheath for the new ICE Dagger is closer to a pancake style sheath with soft loops that can be attached in a variety of ways. The sheath is well suited to the intended use of this knife as a defensive tool.

This knife is expected to be release before the upcoming SHOT Show. Stay tuned for details.

The following is a video from the 2016 SHOT Show where Andy describes the design in detail.

Tahoma Field Knife Leather Sheath

InnerBark Outdoors head honcho, Andy Tran, is the designer of the TOPS Knives Tahoma Field Knife – a large survival/field knife that has been vetted in a variety of environments from the Pacific Northwest to the jungles of South America.

InnerBark has not only designed the knife but also a previously mentioned kydex sheath and a new leather sheath that is the subject of this post. This handmade leather sheath shows solid craftsmanship and is surprisingly affordable for sheaths of this type. The sheath is made in Texas by Big Bend Saddlery. It features thick leather construction with double stitching throughout. It can be ordered with or without a utility pouch on the front.

Tahoma Field Knife Kydex from InnerBark Outdoors

The Tahoma Field Knife, a large fixed blade designed by Andy Tran of InnerBark Outdoors and produced by TOPS Knives, is one of the finest large survival knives on the market. It comes from TOPS with functional sheath but there is always room for improvement.

InnerBark Outdoors worked with Red Feather Gear to develop is a kydex dangler sheath for the Tahoma Field Knife. The sheath has a welt to add rigidity which is nice for such a heavy knife. It also features a closed dangler loop that can not be accidentally opened and a well formed thumb ramp to aid in removing the knife from the sheath.
