The EDC Tool Roll: Lobster UM24SS Shorty Adjustable Wrench

The EDC Tool Roll is a feature on Jerking the Trigger in which we profile various every day carry worthy tools. The tools shown aren’t multi-tools but rather real tools, that by virtue of their compact size, light weight, usefulness, or unique functionality, can find a place in any range kit, emergency kit, or every day carry bag.

Feel free to comment on the tools that you carry so we can all learn! The discussion on these posts has been very valuable so far.

The Lobster Shorty Adjustable Wrench (UM24SS) is a compact adjustable wrench that is well suited to everyday carry. The wrench is just over 4.5″ in length but has large jaws that can open wide enough to handle a 1″ diameter nut or bolt.

These drop forged steel wrenches have had great care taken to ensure that they remain light weight. The handle has been fluted and skeletonized and the jaws are tapered, relatively thin, and fluted to removed weight. Those thin jaws are part of why I prefer this wrench over other adjustable wrenches I have tried. Cheap adjustable wrenches often have chunky jaws that are difficult to use on small fasteners.

The Lobster Shorty is available with a number of different colored handles. Be advised that the “red” handle color (shown) looks more pink in person.

These wrenches are made in Japan and usually imported. I ordered mine through Amazon but they are also available from a number of sellers on Ebay. I’ve never found a local, brick & mortar source for them.

Where to Buy: Lobster Shorty Adjustable Wrench (UM24SS) on Amazon

If you are looking for an alternative, consider the Channellock 804 (chrome) or 804N (black oxide). You are likely to find them locally, they are more affordable, very compact, and made in Spain. I’ll profile one in a future edition of The EDC Tool Roll.

RMJ Tactical News: Death Dealer Battle Axe and Last of the Drop Forged Shrikes

There is a lot of news coming out of RMJ Tactical these days including a new axe inspired from an iconic work of art and an iconic tomahawk undergoing some changes.

The new Death Dealer Battle Axe should be instantly recognizable for those who are fans of artist Frank Frazetta. It is inspired directly from Frazetta’s well known painting, Death Dealer. This axe is a joint offering from RMJ Tactical and Frazetta Jr. Enterprises.

From RMJ Tactical’s product page:

Each of these axes is individually serial numbered on the neck with the Frazetta signature on the other side. The head of the axe features RMJ Tactical’s new Death Dealer Battle Ax Seal as well as the Frazetta Seal of Authenticity.

See the Death Dealer Battle Axe at RMJ Tactical.

From one icon to another… Frank Frazetta is an icon of fantasy art world and the RMJ Tactical Shrike and S13 are icons of the tactical tomahawk world. However, those iconic tomahawks are about to undergo some changes. RMJ Tactical is moving to a new shop and that new shop will come with new capabilities. The Shrike and S13 will no longer be drop forged. The next batch will be machined from billet like the rest of the RMJ Tactical line.

If you want a drop forged Shrike or S13, you better grab one from this current batch. See them at RMJ Tactical.

BRAZA EDC Folder from Bastion

Bastion just launched their newest EDC knife and the timing is great (for you) because they also happen to be hosting a Valentine’s Day sale (see image below).

The BRAZA EDC Folder follows on the success of their PARTIZAN EDC Folder. The PARTIZAN was more of a slim, sleek, gentleman’s knife with tactical sensibility but the BRAZA is larger, more substantial, but but still very refined. It features a 3.75″ D2 blade with a sort of clipped, bull nose shape and a very tall primary grind.

The handle is stainless steel and incorporates the frame lock and a ball bearing system that makes the blade fire very smoothly via the integrated flipper. There is a lanyard loop built into the back spacer and a pocket clip set up for right side tip up carry.

Check out the BRAZA EDC Folder at Bastion.
