Unity Tactical and Ruta Locura Did This Just to Show Off

I think Unity Tactical must have a Q Branch because the recent in house rifle project they took on, with help from Ruta Locura, is some straight up James Bond stuff.

They created one of the slickest and lightest weigh pack rifles you will ever see. They started with a Crickett youth rifle which they SBRed. Then they installed a Ruta Locura pack rifle stock and a custom, cut down carbon fiber wrapped barrel (also from Ruta Locura). Unity Tactical made a custom mount for a Trijicon RMR, cut down the bolt handle, and made a custom ammo holder. They also installed a suppressor and made a few modifications so the rifle would stow as shown in the image above.

The end result is an amazing little pack rifle that weighs just 1.5 pounds as shown (and with 36 rounds of .22LR on board)!

Gearward HemiSERE Titanium Lapel Knife

Gearward’s new HemiSERE Titanium Lapel Knife is now available. The HemiSERE is like the classic Lapel Knives of the OSS in concept but thoroughly modern in materials, ergonomics, and function.

This wafer thin, ultralight, non-ferrous knife is designed to be carried discreetly in a number of different ways. It is ground from .05″ thick Titanium/Ceramic composite that was selected to balance factors like durability, weight, and edge retention. The HemiSERE’s overall length is 3.375″ long with a blade length of 1.875″. It weighs just 4 grams!

The HemiSERE’s name comes from the hemispherical cut out in its handle. This is the key to how the HemiSERE can be gripped comfortably, retained effectively, and creates its edge forward orientation when gripped. This, coupled with its thin flat grind and Wharncliffe blade shape, allows it slash deep.

Each HemiSERE Titanium Lapel Knife comes stuck to a blank credit card with a glue dot and with 12 extra 3M glue dots. The HemiSERE is so thin and light that it may be carried with the glue dots in a variety places like under a lapel, inside a phone case, stuck to a credit card, or anywhere you can dream up.

Stay tuned for a more complete review.

Bug Out Bag Companion: Knipex to Release 6″ CoBolt Cutters

The Knipex CoBolt Cutters article in our series, The EDC Tool Roll, continues to be one of the most viewed articles in that group. Read it here: The EDC Tool Roll: Knipex CoBolt Cutters

I guess the idea of a tool that is essentially a hand held set of compound bolt cutters is attractive to a lot of prepared citizens. Previously, the CoBolt Cutters were only available in 8″ and 10″ lengths but that is about to change. Knipex has announced that they will release a 6 1/4″ Mini CoBolt.

The Mini CoBolt Cutters will likely give up some leverage to the larger 8″ and 10″ models. It will take some testing to see if these can serve as a more compact option that are still suitable for bug out bag tasks.
