Daylight SAVINGS Sale at Elzetta

Elzetta FALLBACKDaylight Savings time just ended. I live far enough north that our official sunset time comes before 4:30 PM. That is good reason to make sure my flashlight situation is squared away. Elzetta can help. They are offering 20% off their lights when you use the code FALLBACK on their website.

I carry either an Elzetta Alpha or a Bravo daily – both with the High/Low tailcap. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Check out Elzetta.com and use code FALLBACK to save 20%.

Sentinel Gear MKIII

You may know Sentinel Gear for their holsters but recently they have also ventured into the realm of purpose built, fixed-blade, self-defense knives – the type of knives that I believe should be carried as a companion to a firearm. They have introduced a knife called the MKIII and it appears to have a lot going for it.

Their MKIII blade ticks off all of what I look for in a knife for this purpose…

Ease of Carry: It is slim and compact to be carried close to the body, preferably near the center-line of the body.

Point Driven: It’s blade is designed for point-driven techniques which I find to be the most intuitive.

Strong Retention: The handle promotes strong retention via a slightly hooked pommel, a deep first finger choil, and aggressive texture. The handle shape also allows the user to orient the knife by feel.

Trainer/Drone Availability: The MKIII has an affordable training drone available. This is often overlooked my makers and manufacturers.

Affordable: The MKIII is a full custom knife at the production knife price of just $150.

On top of all that, Sentinel Gear has just introduced a $40, non-metallic version called the MKIII Specter. Point driven designs are very well suited to point driven methodologies since the edge of non-metallic knives doesn’t hold up well to repeated slashing. However, with a sufficiently thick spine, a non-metallic knife can continue to pierce almost indefinitely.

The MKIII is available in a single or double edge configuration. It comes with a kydex sheath with clothe clip so that it can be carried in a variety of ways, even when you don’t have a belt.

Specs:

Steel: 1095 with dark washed finish

Thickness: 1/8″

Cutting Edge: 3.5″

OAL: 7.12″

Scale Material: G10

Sheath: Kydex

PenCott GreenZone Anorak from Whiskey Two-Four

You are probably used to “tactical” outerwear that is made in the USA being pretty expensive. Whiskey Two-Four just released details of an Anorak pattern that they have created that is about to turn that notion upside down. Their PenCott GreenZone Anorak is chocked full of features and will have an introductory price of just $99. That is a 12.6 ounce, made in the USA, rain shell that is designed to work with your gear for less than $100.

The PenCott GreenZone Anorak is constructed from 70D PU DWR ripstop material. This material will keep the weight down, allow the anorak to pack small, and it can be retreated with DWR refresher as necessary. It has a vented back and vented armpits.

The zipper setup on this shell is very slick. There is half zip front and zippered outseams (sides) to allow easy donning and doffing as well as access to the gear beneath the anorak.

The PenCott GreenZone Anorak is available in one size which is cut to fit over gear like helmets, plate carriers, and other gear.

I can see this shell having wide appeal not just with shooters but hunters, especially those who need to pack in light. A garment like this packs a lot of versatility without much cost in weight or bulk. It can be paired with a fleece and appropriate base layers to tame most weather conditions.

Check out the PenCott GreenZone Anorak coming in December from Whiskey Two-Four. This shell might just help set a new precedent for affordability in tactical outerwear.

Scalarworks has announced that their excellent, lightweight optics mounts will receive several upgrades including a switch from 6061-T6 aluminum to the stronger 7075-T6 alloy. They have also hinted at an entire line of mounts to support multiple optics and then dropped more than just a hint when they released the following photo.
