Simple Threaded Devices Update

Well designed linear compensators like those from Black River Tactical and Simple Threaded Devices (STD) are not always given credit for being the excellent all around muzzle devices that they really are. I have come to like them quite a bit and while shopping for a Simple Threaded Device to try, I noticed that they were no longer offered on Amazon. A quick check of the STD Facebook page revealed why…

STD556-3

Amazon has been purging many gun parts from their pages after years of selling them. They determined that the muzzle devices violated their terms of service and removed them, leaving STD in the lurch. The muzzle devices are now available directly from Simple Threaded Devices.

So, if you are looking for an STD (that was as weird for me to type as it was for you to read), you can get them at Simple Threaded Devices’ new e-commerce site.

Magpul Apparel

I have purchased several t-shirts and sweatshirts over the years from Magpul – not because of the logo but because they have always had very good quality clothes with great details. Even my wife has some shirts that she likes from them. Now they are pushing beyond, way beyond, just t-shirts and hoodies…

Magpul apparel is here.

From Magpul:

“Everyday Wear”

In Magpul Core, “everyday” could mean scrambling across a snow covered ridgeline, trekking across the plains of Africa, or working through triple canopy jungles, but…much larger percentages of our lives are spent in far less adventurous settings.

Magpul Apparel is engineered with performance in mind–using modern fabrics and fabric treatments–and is designed to be comfortable and effective during demanding activities. We included smart features that make a difference and avoided the temptation to include “add-ons” that look better on paper than they perform in the field.

The apparel line was also created with the goal of being equally at home in a restaurant, an airport, or a market, and not look like some sort of costume, as “tactical” or “performance” clothing often does.

Our design team has chosen timeless styles that can remain stable–so that shirt that you really like is available to purchase next year, and not discarded with the seasonal fads of fashion.

We’re also bringing this line to you with the same “value for money” proposition we offer with all of our products, so that your dollar goes further to get the features, materials, and fit that you want–no matter what you do or where you choose to do it.

“Everyday Where?”

SB Tactical MPX PSB and SBPDW

Remember when I told you to keep an eye on SB Tactical going into NRA Show? I wasn’t kidding. They just announced that the BATFE has approved the designs of their new adjustable Pistol Brace designs for pistol-based PDWs – The MPX PSB (for the Sig MPX) and SBPDW (for the AR pistol).

These adjustable Pistol Braces have everything you have come to expect from PDW style stocks (though they are not stocks). The brace unit slides on rails and a fixed point to place you cheek is provided even when the brace is extended.

From SB Tactical:

SB Tactical™, inventors and manufacturers of the Pistol Stabilizing Brace™, announced today that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), has approved the design of the company’s new adjustable Pistol Stabilizing Brace. The ruling states the adjustable brace design is approved for PDW pistol platforms like the SIG MPX™ pistol. Installation of the brace would not change the classification of a pistol in accordance with GCA provisions. The growth of the PDW pistol category and the latest ATF letter approving the adjustable Pistol Stabilizing Brace design showcases the commitment of SB Tactical to innovate and serve the PDW Pistol Community.

Upon receipt of the favorable ATF Opinion Letter, SB Tactical accelerated the development of two adjustable brace models, the MPX PSB™ and SBPDW™. The company is pleased to announce they will begin shipping these new adjustable brace models this summer.

We are very excited with the ATF’s approval of our new adjustable Pistol Stabilizing Brace design, and understand the overwhelmingly positive implications of the decision,” said Jeff Creamer, Vice President of Business Development, SB Tactical. “SB Tactical’s commitment to emerging technologies and innovation has been the facilitator for the growing PDW pistol category. This Opinion ushers in an exciting time for us and the PDW community; we are proud to introduce the MPX PSB and SBPDW models.

Both the MPX PSB and the SBPDW adjustable Pistol Stabilizing Braces will be displayed at the upcoming NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Louisville, KY. The MPX PSB will be showcased by SIG SAUER, Inc. (Booth 5333) and the SBPDW will be displayed by both Maxim Defense Industries (Booth 3954) and LWRC International LLC (Booth 5547).

Designed solely for the AR pistol platform, the SBPDW weighs in at 18.14 ounces, measures 5.50 inches in length, and has a max width of 2.25 inches. The MPX PSB is designed exclusively for the SIG SAUER® SIG MPX and SIG MCX line of products. The MPX PSB weighs 19.13 ounces, is 8.0 inches in length and has a max width of 2.25 inches.
